Question: are you Mount fans starting to wonder if Germany Woods is still missing something?  I know the OL struggled badly in the first few games, but today the other RB's appeared to outproduce Woods on fewer carries.  I did not see the game, just wondering.

I am no longer wondering. He is missing something. Yes he had 3 goal line carries and only 9 total - but if something wasn't missing I think they would be feeding him the ball more. The oline did not help him in first game, maybe the 2nd, but if we are 4 games in and he is only getting 9 carries then it has to be more than just the line. The other backs have also struggled at times - but he is getting outperformed. I think he has become Jerome Bettis - 3 carries, 4 yards, 3 tds.

Like I mentioned, Mitchell is the only one gaining yards consistently.  Minnich, the only other guy who gets touches with the starters, is avg 3.2 ypc which is even less than Woods.  I think we have to accept that at this point in time they're much better at throwing than running so they're not going to grind it out on people.  Burke is their best player and they're riding him.  Just have to wonder if/when we see them find ways to get Scott/Mitchell involved earlier. Those two are playmakers and they could use more big play threats.

For those that were paying attention to the broadcast, my thoughts on this were on display, thought tactically softened.

I think it may be the teams they are playing and the additional talented players he is playing with right now, Mount is just plowing through the OAC right now and I see no need for him  to be trying to just pad someone stats.

Oh, I totally understand not giving someone additional carries for the sake of padding stats.  I played for a high school team that often pulled the starters early and had starting RB's who "only" gained a certain number of yards because they got 8-10 carries a game for the bulk of the regular season, there was no need to keep them in ahead 42-0 in the third quarter.  But my point is that Woods is not producing much on the carries that he is getting, while other guys are at least breaking some occasional big gains on far fewer carries.  I do realize that some of Woods' carries in this week's game were goal-line carries and that would artificially depress the average ypc, but still.  If Mount is better at passing than running, that's fine, but at some point they may need to grind out some yardage, and if it looks like one of the other RB's is doing a better job than Woods, it's worth opening a conversation about whether there is a better RB option.

HScoach, I apologize, I did not listen to the broadcast, and would appreciate if you would tactfully summarize here.
I was small but made up for it by being slow...

The OAC Pick-Em results for Week 5 are posted.

"Football picker extraordinaire" FCGrizzliesGrad took weekly honors again and is starting to separate himself from the peloton.

Week 6's spreads will be posted Monday evening.

HSCoach -- with all this talk about garbage-time, how much (if any) of Scott's and Mitchell's yards came versus Northern's first team defense?

If you look at the box score play-by-play (which I did) I saw an awful lot of Maclaughlin/Cantrell/Cox/Kwiat/King...all starters...in the 4th quarter. I am sure they were gassed by this point and that had something to do with the longs runs in 4th by Mount - but it was against a lot of ONU starters.

I would like to thank the Muskies, the flaming pile, and Capital for killing my Pick-ems this week! What happened to BW? I though they were going to show something (positive) this year! Oh well.

I was watching a college game and the u.f  Wyoming was playing with their B-W home uniforms.  The guys doing the game commented how awful they are in this day and age of uniforms.   I think their not my favorite to look at, yet since I have been on here, the description of these goes beyond that.

Northern's starters played the whole game.   Both O and D.  Similar to Etta, I just don't understand why you don't get some young kids some playing time.

I didn't get a chance to see or listen to the Carroll game over the weekend, but I took a look at the stats this morning.  Is Capital really this bad??

They completed one pass.  One.  They had three more first downs (eight) than penalties (five).  Mark Myers was 18-20 and didn't throw an incomplete pass after the first play of the 2nd quarter.  I understand that the Streaks are playing extremely well right now, but Capital can't be this bad, right??

I live in Columbus and I usually go to at least a couple Cap games per year.  I have not seen the 2013 edition yet.  But what I saw last year and the year before was bad.  Very, very thin on talent.  Just slow.  Poor QB play (being kind).  Physically overmatched on both sides of the ball.  Actually, I believe last year someone on this board dubbed them "Wilm in different uniforms" based on their current talent level.  Candeto is installing that option offense and does seem to be at least generating some positive buzz with recruiting around here, but they're a couple years away from even being middle of the pack IMO.  He inherited a mess there.

A friend of mine pointed out...Capital beat Marietta by four touchdowns, John Carroll beat Capital by 54...good luck, Pios.  You're going to need it.  Could be absolutely brutal on Saturday.
