Finally a big game.  Now the fun begins!

Agreed, desertraider.  Focus #1 has to be containing Brooks.  Easier said than done.  If they can contain him and get pressure on Mees they'll win.

And as much as none of us want it to be the case, Burke's legs are absolutely going to be a key.  I think they can score on Berg conventionally because I think Berg is a very solid, but not great defense.  That being said, they will be jacked.  There are going to be points in the game where Burke is going to have to pull it down and make a play running to sustain drives.  Fortunately, it's Burke so we all get to rest easy knowing that he's a magician in those situations.

It's time to see how much this team has grown since Franklin.  With Burke and the D leading the way I think we're going to find out they're rounding into shape right on time.  I'm on board with skunks...I was thinking something like 31-21 Raiders.

Of course I'm not as familiar with the teams as the posters on this board.  I'm curious why some are predicting Berg to score 21+ points?  I understand Brooks is a star, however, Mt's D is collectively a bigger star aren't they?
I didn't look up the season stats, but I have to believe Berg's D is not close to Mt's either.
Isn't it more likely Berg would be in the 10-14 point range, especially considering they will likely be playing against Mt's #1's most of the game?
Then the question is how many points will Berg give up.

Anyway, good luck to both teams.  I'm excited to follow the game.

Using my strong undergraduate education from Hiram I would have to say "man them sure is a lot a numbers". However - with my advanced education: "The data indicates that Heidi leads their opponent in all relevent categories" ;D I was suprised by a couple of things, first of which is the passing game. I thought heidi was giving up more in the air and I didn't realize how much they had thrown for. I looked at opponents records.....pretty sad really. Mounts opponents have a combined record of 11-34, heidi's opponents are 9-41. So here are some notables:
Mount has rushed for 2067 yards (without Cartel Brooks!) and given up 381. Mount has passed for 1746 and given up 696. And despite Burke being "off" as I stated earlier he has thrown for 1666 yards/22tds/4int and a 63.5% completion. What I like is that Mount has a stable of backs - 6 rushers over 200 yards - while Heidi has Cartel with 923 yards and really nothing else. They have a few close to 200 but it is clearly the Cartel Brooks show. The QB is efficient (59%) and does not throw many picks (2 to go with 17tds). But if you look at the heidi stats on their site - I see the WRs with avgerages of 26.1, 21.9, 16, etc..Mount has to eliminate the big pass play. Wow - I just lost 25 minutes I will never get back in order to learn that this is a pretty even contest.  ???

My thinking was basically that Berg scored 14 last year with Brooks going out to injury midway through the game.  Throw in that last year you had a D anchored by seasoned AA's like Driskill and Dieuseul and I thought it was worth a score.

Yea but I have numbers! Numbers are more and more as we all know is better.  8-) I was actually going to make a point on Brooks injury last year -- bottomline the Mount D is very physical. While Mount has a stable of backs - Heidi has Brooks. If he gets banged up like last year they have no depth. In addition Mount will get after the QB. Heidi has only given up 3 sacks this year (at least that is what I recall from the stats) which tells me he has not been under much pressure. I guess what I am really saying is that Heidi has not seen a team like Mount Union. ;D

On another note - I watched the Ott replay and Germany Woods looked much quicker than I have seen. However, he also seemed to have played only 3rd and 4th qtr. So he looked very quick against a lot of reserves. Maybe it will get him back to where he was 2 years ago.

I had a chance to watch both on the 19th(did anyone else do the double that day). I wouldn't worry to much if Mt. had some problems passing against Otterbein, they shut down the princes passing game also. Brooks was the only thing working for them that night. This will be a great game, made a lot of friends from both mt. and berg at games the last couple of years. As a fan without connection to either school not sure who to pull for. Berg has a great chance but it is hard to pick against the MACHINE. Home game for Berg lets call it 24-21 Mt. Good luck all.

I was thinking of Cartel Brooks along the lines of Levell Coppage (UWW) - so I decided to google Levell and look at his numbers. Much to my surprise I find:

Was this discussed on here and I missed it? Curious.

I find easily offended people rather offensive!

Statistics are like bikinis; what they reveal is interesting, what they hide is essential.

I seem to recall the arrest being discussing on the WIAC thread, but had not yet seen anything about the sentencing.

Very sad.

It is sad - he was incredibly talented. I hope he has, or will, finish his degree and put this behind him.

BTW: I saw Chris Denton on the sideline last week with a headset on and hear that he and Dieusel are both on campus finishing degrees. Kudos to them both. Pursuing the NFL dream is great but completing your education is smart.

It doesn't matter that he didn't play in a game.  If we went through practices then he would have had to be listed on the roster.  If he's listed on the roster for even a single game then he can't grayshirt.

This is not true. What's important is this: If he took part in any practices after the first contest of the season (aka, the scrimmage), then he uses a year or eligibility.

Of course, even if he had used a year this year, he could appeal.
