TOPH the flip schedule was requested by Mount, the OAC just listened and did as they were told.   I got this from a fly that was in the room.  Why go there, when if you won the game I bet you do not make that comment.

I have no idea what any of these sentences mean.

Wally - I can't give you any names, but I can assure you I have read that kind of comment on the D3 boards on more than one occasion in the past few years.   Just because something is ridiculous doesn't mean someone doesn't say it.  (Regarding football or anything else.)

As for the flipped schedule, clearly the OAC is more interested in protecting Mount Union than anything.   Toph. this is you?

When I said 2.2 seconds I meant that was the duration of the play not the time remaining in the quarter. I'll stand by what I said. If you think less than 2.2 seconds should have come off the clock then you should take off your blue and gold glasses to get a better view of what was going on.

It's interesting I'm not hearing any complaining about the push off for a full ten yards by the JCU receiver on the long 4th down play in the third quarter.

To be fair.

I didn't see anything on the replay that justified a "Personal Foul" flag on Mount's no.25 late in the game?  Did anyone see that?  It was on the JCU sideline. I noticed VK did not take the young man out of the game. Anything anyone has on that would be appreciated.  Another great job by Ric and HS Coach.  JCU's quarterback is truly blessed to have receivers like that, they made catch after catch with tight coverage. I love it we get JCU at home again next year.

Thanks Purple I appreciate that.

Today's game was what is was built up to being. Great atmosphere, both teams played a tough
clean game and the officiating was reasonable for both teams. Maybe a call or two should have gone
the other way. We had a guest from North Central (NCF) and she was very impressed with the game
and she knows her football very well. Her son was a top LB for them the last few years.

A few thoughts on the game:

1. First of all, it was great to be there and this game was exciting like UMHB last year.

2. Kevin Burke is just amazing!

3. Great performances by L. Mechum and B.J. Mitchell today.

4. The Raiders have already played one of the tougher teams in the playoffs today.

5. JCU will win some games in the coming weeks.

6. This Raider team has been tested and has learned from it. We'll see how far they go this year, but
I would not bet against K. Burke and the running game has improved greatly since the
    beginning of the year.

7. Both coaches did a great job in preparation and execution.

8. The JCU receivers were as a group one of the best around, despite very tight coverage most
    of the game.

So now it is the playoffs with the Raiders likely going East again. It is now time to get ready for
the second  season. Congrats to the Raiders and Coach V. Kehres for  a 10-0 record and winning
the OAC. :)

Raider 68, I pretty much agree with your assessments though I'm not sure I agree with the JCU receivers being the best group around. They had good hands and I was surprised how much Meyers seem to throw the ball into tight coverage. His receivers were often not getting much separation.

Tom Arth might just win COY for the improvement of that program. Vince Kehres and Tom Hallett will be  stiff competition. Heidy faded, true, but do you remember where that team was before him?

Did someone hire a 74 year old Welshman with a background in soccer?? :)

Yes.  Said in jest...hence the smiley face.

Ric- as I said, you and I are going to have to agree to disagree.  Of course I see the game through gold colored glasses...the same way you see it through purple colored glasses.

Toph - It would seem reasonable to believe that if the powers-that-be say that a spike cannot be expected to be accomplished  in less than three seconds at the end of the quarter, then a spike cannot be expected to be accomplished in less than three seconds at ANY POINT OF THE GAME.  Maybe it CAN be but it cannot be EXPECTED to be.

Yes?  No?

Excellent point, edw de vere.  Another example of another stupid rule by the NCAA. ;)

I think it a rule to protect teams from stupid refs that get too excited and think that a team can spike the ball without enough time on the clock.

In his defense, I have seen this argument advanced before (seldom by particularly astute fans).  I think it's nonsense but occasionally some rocket scientist says that Mount benefits from a weak conference. I remember compiling the history of OAC runners up in the playoffs before to illustrate that the OAC runner up is typically on par with top teams from other conferences.
I was small but made up for it by being slow...

COY vote will be tough...Arth has brought JCU back to relevancy, However, VK in his first year has taken an offense with basically no offensive line and gradually built a good unit.  He should get kudos for that. Just because he took over Mount Union, does not mean he didn't have to coach and build a team.
I would most likely vote for Arth, however, my "purple colored glasses" (for Toph), gives Vince credit for a great first year.
