Good luck to Jasper Collins.  He's back with the Dolphins on the practice squad.

Another interesting find on twitter

Mount Union @purpleraiders and Washington & Jefferson are 2 most frequent visitors to D3 playoffs. MTU with 25 trips and Presidents with 23

Kudos to Brian Lester, who reports on the Great Lakes region for D3.  He writes long, and that's a good thing when there are so many teams to cover and so many fans eager to read something, anything about their team.

Brian surely puts a lot of time in for FREE or a McDonald's Value Meal or whatever is he gets.  Just wanted to thank him here.

I second that. He does a great job with keeping up with the ranked teams and tidbits on teams in each conference. Hope he's back next year.

Our columnists do get paid, but not what they would get if they filed a similar column for any publication I ever worked at. Thankfully we are able to pay them, though, because we do expect quality content. :)

This Mount Union team very much reminds me of the 1998 team.  They could loose to anyone in the playoffs and they can beat anyone in the playoffs.  The 1998 team was Jason Hall and a bunch of guys named Joe.  I'll be forever grateful as a Raider fan for the way he carried the Purples that year.  God also intervened at least once. He took that team to the title the way The Great Jim Ballard did the 1993 team.  Dare I mention Keven Burke in the same breath with The Great Number 7.? Love that kid. Did we get a favorable draw in the tournament or what?  THANK YOU selection committee.

In a very, non-specific, non-literal, thinking about only 3 to 4 teams if-things-go-really wrong kind of way maybe. Otherwise, not so much.  ;)

Ok, so purple exaggerated a little to make a point,  but in concept I agree with him.    Outside of the first round, I think the rest of their possible.opponents have the potential to trip them up if Mount doesn't play to their ability.  Much like 1998, this is a very young Mount team with a bunch of new, unfamiliar faces playing around one known stud.   Then it was LB Jason Hall.   Now it's QB Kevin Burke.   In 98, no one knew RB Chuck Moore was goung to be a Gagliardi winner.   He was just a good young RB with a bright future.  Sounds a little like BJ Mitchell.  In 98 there were a few regular season games they could have easily lost if a play here or there goes against them.   Same as this season.  In 98 their stats were good, but not head and shoulders above the rest of the OAC and D3.   Same as now.

This team has the potential to play for #12, but it's not a sure thing like some years have been.   Do I expect them to lose?  No.   But to book your reservations for Salem today is premature in my opinion.
I find easily offended people rather offensive!

Statistics are like bikinis; what they reveal is interesting, what they hide is essential.
