So, instead of Mount Union being in the weakest bracket, it's actually in the TOUGHEST bracket, by far.

:o

I hope Mount can make it out of the first round. . . .

Outside of the first round, I think the rest of their possible.opponents have the potential to trip them up if Mount doesn't play to their ability.

I am not a historical Mount fan and cannot comment on years past, but I think this season has borne this out.  Mount at its peak is capable of blowing all but two or three teams off the field (UMHB, UWW, and Linfield are the only teams I'd bet on staying within three TD's of Mount-on-a-great-day), but they have let their three best opponents of 2013 back into games they could have put away (even if the Heidelberg game had some fraudubulent officiating that helped the Princes get back into things), and while all three of those teams are unquestionably very, very good, they aren't #2, 3, 4 in the nation...which means that Mount certainly is "vulnerable" by their own standards if they catch some "merely good" teams on their best day while Mount is having a very poor game.  I don't think anyone in their bracket is LIKELY to stay within 21 but it wouldn't be a total stunner if Wittenberg traded scores with them for a while.
I was small but made up for it by being slow...

The number of combined National Championships per bracket this year are

UMHB bracket              0
Bethel bracket             1
Whitewater bracket     6
Mount Union bracket   16

Interesting stuff.

It was fun looking at the bracket and figuring out which teams won previous championships.

I was stuck on Bethel's bracket and had to cheat. Hard to believe Albion was a powerhouse back in its day.

02,

Glad to see you on this board. Mount lost to Albion 33-34 in 1994 and Albion went on to win the
National title.

Ah, 1994.   Remember it well.   My daughter was just born, I still had hair and it was the last time Mount didn't make it to at least the national semi-finals.

I was at that Albion/Mount game, which was played at Albion.  It was one of the most exciting games included in playoff history, a large crowd and it was one of the coldest days for a game that I can ever recall.  Anyway, Albion did go on to win the Stagg Bowl that year.  They were a good team, although they did have a little luck during the playoffs, which, IMO, any team needs and does get on occasions in such situations.  It was just meant to be and how it happened that year.

Regarding this year, I could obviously be wrong, however, for some reason I see this year's Albion team as very similar as far as capability in advancing in the playoffs to that one in 1994.  While they are certainly no powerhouse, their offense and defense could get that job done as long as they don't give up the big play(s) like they did at Hope.  Of course, they have to get by North Central tomorrow and that will not be an easy task-could be a problem in staying with NCC.  Yet, if they do by some chance win that game, I would say they would certainly be a team to not take for granted and could see them as having a better than even chance of advancing further beyond the second round game.  Now...if they got to the semi-finals and/or the Stagg Bowl, which is probably not likely, but I would indeed be impressed then (but I, again, think perhaps a "little luck" might play a part in that too.) ;)

I remember it well, too.  I was in third grade and was in a brief phase where I mistakenly thought it was cooler to go by Andy instead of Andrew.

Okay, ExTartan, my friend, thanks a lot for making the rest of us feel old! :D  Although I guess I and the others "outed ourselves" already prior to that! ;)

Tickets for the W&J vs Mount Union game are selling for $8, one dollar less than a season ticket.  I understand that the price is set by the NCAA.  John Carroll apparently feels they are the exception as they are selling reserved for $15 and general admission for $10.  (Students get in for $4).  I guess they want to make some bucks while they can, big time program that they are.

I played against their 1996 team.  We had about 16 sophomores starting and put it on us, 52-3.

I do NOT, however, remember HScoach ever having hair.

Big day for us. Going to the doctor to find out the sex of baby SaintsFAN. We're excited.

Interesting, gentlemen.  I thought that the NCAA set the prices as the same for all playoff games regardless, at least that was my understanding in past years.  As we all know, the NCAA controls essentially all aspects of the playoff games, from admission policy, programs, limitations on the school's staff with regards to who is allowed on the sidelines, etc., etc. - it is much more strict than during the regular season, although the latter is obviously governed by each college themselves.

So from what you have shared, it appears they have changed their policy and allow somewhat of a "range" or variance that each school might choose to do?  Thanks.

Congratulations to you and the Mrs. on the upcoming expected eventual arrival of baby SaintsFAN!  Wonderful and wishing you both all the best for that.  Keep us posted. :)

I see MHB is also charging $10, while NCC and others are at $8.  Nice to know Mount hasn't upped their prices this year.
