Am I the only one glad that Wesley came back as hung in there? After the 31-0 first quarter I was a little concerned Mount would coast. IMO they needed yet another test today and got it. Obviously I wish it wouldn't have gotten that close, but if it was 42-0 at half we would all be talking about how we wish they would've had a better test going into a game against a VERY good North Central team.

Got my pulse down long enough to post the results of the 3rd Round of the OAC Post-Season Pick-Em.

FCGrizzliesGrad and Chess4Me were the only two to pick Wesley with the spread, and Chess4Me (10) received the 3-point bonus for being closest to reality, giving him the win this week with 12 points.

It's still tight at the top with four players leading with 29 points: Bobert6296, FCGrizzliesGrad, MasterJedi, and rams1102.

Round 4 spreads will come out Monday evening, and you'll get a chance to school me on both games this week.
Never underestimate the stimulation of eccentricity.

Look on the bright side, DesertRaider:

Yes, the Mount Union defense gave up 9,436,189 yards passing and 432 touchdowns through the air, but it really STUFFED the run.

Congrats on advancing again Mount Union.  Maybe next week you'll actually play in an exciting game  ;)

See you didn't need video feed for less than a quarter of a game.

Quote of the game?  ;) ;D It gave me a bit of a chuckle!

Hey why no video for the MIGHTY MTU!  All three other games are streaming FREE video.

I've had enough of this. Honestly.

There's an easy solution  ;) 8-)

In all seriousness, it is disappointing for the rest of the country that wants to watch these match ups in the playoffs, but I understand why Mount doesn't want to. It is totally their prerogative not to have video available. On the flip side, it's totally fine for everyone else to complain about it. It's actually a compliment, people want to see Mount play.

Yeah.   Pretty funny looking back at it now.    Obviously meant to say "should be ballgame".

Yikes.   That was one ugly defensive performance. In fact, the word "performance" is too positive.   That was one ugly definsive display.    Never thought a VK coached D would look so lost.   Mount is fortunate to be playing in their 19th straight semi-final.    9th straight Staggg looks very questionable at this point.

WesleyDad:    thanks for hanging around to BS after the game.   2014 should be a good year to be a Wesley fan.

Hope your drive home is a safe one.   With a good working heater.

I'm not sure when I've seen a game quite like this one.

Wesly played a great game and deserved the win as much or more then Mount.  Had it not been for the first quarter, Mount would be sitting out the rest of the playoffs.  I can't remember seeing a Mount Union team pushed around like this one was today.  Last week I thought the Raiders were peaking at exactly the right time.  Tonight I'm thinking there will be no trip to Salem for this group.  At least we live to fight again.

skunks_sidekick,

It was great joining you, Skunks, wesleydad and Raiderguy for breakfast/lunch. I thank you for the
invite. Hope wesleydad has safe travels back home. It was quite a game in many ways and I will
post later after collecting my thoughts on what I saw today.

Needless to say NCF fan will be coming to support North Central, assuming it is at Mount Union!

Next week will have the game time build-up like last year's UMHB's game, we'll see! :)

Mother FRICKIN' #$%&^$*%$$!!!!!!!

What a crazy arse game!

I went from feeling bad for WesleyDad driving all that way to watch his team get monkey stomped, to "WTF is happening"!!!

We kept looking at each other and saying....."hmm...never saw THAT before".  It was the weirdest, oddest, wackiest game ever.

Little hint to VK.....WHEN YOU ARE  UP 14 WITH MINUTES LEFT, PUT YOUR DARN DB'S 20 YARDS BACK!!!!  Just a thought!!!  Still playing man/press coverage at that point of the game (especially after 5 just keeps getting beat time after time after time after time) is just ignorance, or arrogance.  One or the other.  Or maybe BOTH.  Oh...and the fake punt.....really???????

Major props to Wesley for refusing to quit, and fighting back time after time.  What a game from Callahan.

Mount's offense is the real deal, but with the way NCC throws the ball, I am unsure if the scoreboard goes high enough for that game.

PHEW!  More to come later......
Wow the monkeys again? Callahan sure got them to stop stomping.... Congrats to Mt. Union for holding on/moving on and a big dose of respect to Wesley and Callahan for the most amazing comeback. I really wish I could have seen the video instead of just listening... I have never seen Callahan play, I guess his Superman cape doesn't interfere with his passing...awesome performance ..... Mount Union coach looks brilliant for calling an onside kick so early  ;)

rscl70,

I am not sure what I saw today, other than a Raider team that looked great initially, then faltered
completely on defense. K. Burke took a wicked hit, and then preceding to throw a TD pass. I would
hope that the rest of the team take a lesson from him on what it means to be tough. Rarely, am
a critical of the adjustments made at halftime, but the second half reflects some poor decisions
by both players and coaches. ::)

IMHO, North Central should be favored to win next week and could
easily be in the Stagg bowl this year. We all know this is a young Raider team, but so was Wesley.
This week it is gut check time and time to move forward or go home. We'll see if the Raiders can play
the game that they are capable of playing for 4 qtrs. against probably the best North Central team in 10 years.!

Yeah, I had one just as deluded as HScoach; thanking UMU for showing such consideration to those of us who wanted to follow all the games by ending theirs before the others even started! ::)

Oh, well - couldn't watch it anyway. :(

What's crazy is that 1st quarter was as dominating as  Mount has looked in a couple years.     Was 31-0 and coulda/shoulda been 2 TD's worse.    Weird game.   Weird season.    Mount has played 5 good teams this season, had big leads against all 5 and 4 of them have come storming back to make it a nail biter.   Very weird.   Was worried about the offense to start the season and thru mid-year.   Now it's the defense that's the problem.    Never expected that.
