Left Hudson, FL last night around 7:30pm.  Took a nap in the car in SC at a Rest Stop for about 3 hours.  Arrived in Salem at 11:00am.  Resting Up for the Game now!

Is there a large (relatively so)  UMU contingent in Broward?  I have only come across a few D3 fans in S.Fla.

First, hats off to Kira&Jaxon's Dad impressive driving effort, now get that rest and give em hell at the game.

As for South Florida, Mount's "brand" has certainly grown with the recruiting efforts undertaken & exposure down there. Most of the Florida alumni base seems concentrated in Naples/Gulf Coast- follows I-75 to the midwest. I kept the Broward moniker but must confess, I'm now a panhandle raider and have encountered no alumni up here but a much larger d3 (overall football) knowledgeable fan base. In this geographic area it's God, sweet tea and the SEC.

I was watching a little of the Mt. Union/North Central on replay the other day.  Does Mt. Union run that Pistol/Spread every play on offense, or do they mix it up like they usually do in terms of formations and concepts?

They played around with Burke under center occassionally early in the season when they were trying anything and everything to get the running game going.  But what you saw in the NCC is pretty much the offense and has been for a while.  Burke is always in the shotgun unless it's victory formation.  There are rarely 2 backs with him.  And we haven't seen much of the true TE Lane Clark.  They're almost exclusively shotgun, single back, 4 WR.

Thanks.

After 14 games, I still don't know what to expect from this team except improbable wins.     I believe UWW will score on Mount,  everyone else has, the question in my mind is how much we can score on them.     We struggled against any defense we saw with speed in front 7 and UWW will be the fastest.   And bigger at LB too.    Which will severely limit Burke's rushing/scrambling.    If Wesley can stop Mitchell, i cringe at what UWW will do.   And yes, I remember that BJ had 134 yards, but onlt averaged 2.5 after the first carry.  O-line has to play out their arses to protect Burke because I see the only method of moving the ball is thru the air.   If Mount wins, it will be because Burke carried them there.     In Burke we trust.   Go Mount!

This is the first time in a long time that I definitely feel like we're the clear underdog in the Stagg Bowl.  If the D had been a normal Mount D I'd say we're the favorites.  But the D has not been that this year.  But if we're going to be underdogs and need to hope for one guy to carry us there's no one I'd rather have to look to than Kevin Burke.  He's proven it time and time again.  Question is does he have one more rabbit in that hat?

Speaking of rabbit out of the hat, I wonder if there will be a Taurice Scott sighting?

I mean - out of nowhere, we saw ShermTheWorm blocking kicks last game.

raiderpa

missing only my second of all Mt Stagg appearances....
will turn down sound and listen to Ric and Coach...hopefully it will sync up...If not will try Pat and Keith.

Mount HAS to establish run to open crossing routes to receivers.
If they cannot run effectively, could be a long night.

I have a bad feeling about this one, but will hope VK's defense shows up...It hasn't yet in big games, they have counted on Offense to outscore...
If UWW gets two scores up...trouble
If UMU gets two scores up, I don't have confidence that D can hold it...

keeping fingers crossed and nerve medication close by...

Dr Acula,

The Raiders have not beat UWW in the last 3 Stagg Bowls, and in some of games at least they
beat themselves. While UWW has the best defense that the Raiders will play, UWW has not faced
an offense like Mount as yet. The good weather will help the Raiders tonight vs. the slop they have
been playing in. IMHO, the game will either be the typical close one as previous years, or the Raider
offense will blow it wide open. As an all around team offense and defense North Central was the best
yet, now we'll see if UWW is better!

Where have I read this before...oh right - every single (alright mostly just the Empire 8 guys) fan of Mount opponents since 1996. But I do agree - UWW has not seen an O like Mount yet. I am not so sure of the NCC defensive comment though. UWW has a serious D - I think it is the best Mount has seen in a couple years (no offense to the Tommies - well who cares). Mount has to be able to run the ball - but without Burke. UWW is going to try and do to Burke what Mount did to Cartel Brooks - hem him in. BJ and Nemeth have to be able to run so the UWW D can't lock onto Burke. I do expect a Taurice Scott appearance. One of many things different about VK and LK - VK does not seem to mind using "trickeration". I see this game as a coin flip but if BJ can get yards AND Mounts D front can keep the game in front of them - Mount wins. This is one game where I don't see Burke being able to carry the team. Someone else has to step up and make a difference - make UWW "look the other way". Roll Raiders~Roll!

This has absolutely nothing (I presume) to do with tonight's game but I just saw a highlight replay that I had no idea was legal.

The punter punted the ball forward on a line drive to a teammate who was behind the line of scrimmage.  That teammate then ran for a first down!

Never, EVER heard of such a thing.

HScoach

Burke likely going to find another favorite target.    Not good news >:(
I find easily offended people rather offensive!

Can we bring Roman Namdar up from the farm team?

Congratulations to Hank Spencer, apparently a very bright fellow.
