Looks like Taurice Scott is moving to WR. I like it.  He's a good QB, but he can get on the field now and be a game changer at WR with his speed and athleticism.  With Namdar back that's two elite D3 athletes at WR.  Huge change for the vertical passing game.  With Meach in the slot this may be one heck of a WR group. And that's not even counting Gainer, Collichio or the freshmen that could emerge as sophs (Hargrove, Parrish)

Dr. Acula,

If that is the case, then no doubt will be looking for a top-notch QB to back up K. Burke in 2014, then take over after that. The WR group will be real good, now some real help for the O & D lines! :)

They must like Peyakov. He was the 3rd QB on the playoff roster as a frosh.  He was a nice player at Manchester.

I wonder if any thought was given to move either of them to defensive back.

Just sayin...  :o

Dr. Acula

I doubt that much thought was given to either of those two move to DB, but when I saw it I will confess my first thought was "I wonder if now they can move any of the other WR to DB?"  I also wondered if any of the stable of RB would move over there a la Blair Skilliter.  Tre Jones has the physical tools to be a great CB.  He just needs to work on technique.  My bigger concern is them finding a pass rush from the D line.  That makes your secondary look much better when the QB doesn't have all day to throw.

Good point on the D-Line. I know over the last couple pages people have posted that should and will be an ongoing focus for the program moving forward. I would guess VK will be looking at some of the RB and WR depth as possible additions to the secondary as well. Ryan Givens actually played a little on both sides of the ball for UW-W this year. When they worked him out at DB, they saw he had the hips for it and was pretty natural back there.  Spring ball isn't a bad time to put a few of the offensive guys back there and see how fluid they look.

Givens was a cornerback at Illinois State before transfering.

True. But remember, that's the best cornerback who has ever played the game executing against a mediocre and sorry receiver.  ;D

The article did point out, however, that the reason Tjeerdsma was not chosen was because of his age.  SHS wanted a younger coach.  At the same time, however, I agree that it certainly seems a little strange that Keeler would make the long move to Texas after his eastern roots.  Not a bad FCS program and facilities, though.

I expect to see transfers from Texas, Texas A&M, LSU, New Mexico, etc...

With signing day coming soon, it will be interesting to hear who the Raiders recruit after that! :-\

I like Scott and Namdar at the WR position - and it also opens up the possibility for passing from anywhere on the field. I know LK never liked the gadget play (i.e. double passes, etc.) but with 2 QBs at WR it could open the playbook up to a "slash" type of a threat like the Steelers had with 'what's his name' (sorry but I can't bring myself to type it). On the D-line pass rush I am not super worried. I talked with Tom Lally on campus the other day. He didn't say anything about next year BUT while talking to him I realized how much bigger he was from when I had him in class as a Frosh. He easily put on 35-40 pounds. He is a stud on D and I think he just needs time to adjust to his body. He was lightening quick as a Frosh - add 40 pounds and you will lose speed and have to figure out how to do the things you used to do (we are all familiar with that I am sure).

On the CB issue - I know that Mount has Chaz Jordan working in the HR Dept. Maybe he could apply for the "Rocky Pentello Eligibility Extension"?
