Just thinking- How fun and beneficial would it be if Mt and UWW scheduled a JV game against each other every season?

A Good idea emma but too costly and that is why UMU only schedules J V games in the Ohio area and play some teams twice. The varsity has been scrimmaging and defeating on a regular basis  Washington and Jefferson College [PA} for over 20 years.W.&J. in Washington PA. is like only  80 from Alliance Ohio.

In the past several years (besides John Carroll and Baldwin Wallace) has any of the other OAC schools scheduled JV Football games with Mount Union?

Onward on, John Carroll

I assume that is because they are overworked and improperly trained in Alliance.  That said, all elite high school talent, immediately report to John Carroll.  Mount will make you susceptible to pulling hamstrings in the NFL after you sign lucrative contracts that will set you up for the rest of your life (and the life of your children and your children's children) . . . .

. . . . now that I re-read that, perhaps my original comment was incorrect.  All kidding aside, that is bad news and I wish them a speedy recovery.

My useless OAC fact of the day...

In the D3 era (1999-present) there is only one OAC school that has not posted a winning record.  Some newer folks might assume Wilm, but those of us old enough to remember watching the Adam Ryan led Quaker team know that's not the answer.  (Side note: That year Wilm went 7-2 in the OAC and had three, THREE All-Americans).

The answer is Musky.  Never better than 5-5 in all those years.  Never had a winning conference record either.  Their high water mark was 2003 when they went 5-5, 4-5.

Two schools landed 3 players on the D3 Preseason All-American team.  UWW.  And Berg.  Their trio and Mount's combo of Burke and Kocheff represent all of the OAC selections.  Congrats to all 5 and hopefully we end up with them and more on the list after the season.

LK will coach the quarterbacks this year for Mount. The question is, who will be his backup? The two best quarterbacks on the team after Burke are Roman Namdar and the former Alliance player Maurice Scott. However, they are superior athletes and too good to not be on the field, and both will play wide out. Lk was very impressed with how Namdar looked on tape at QB. If Burke goes down,Namdar or Scott will move to QB. The area where the Raiders need help in is on the lines, and players will have to emerge if the Raiders hope to win it all.

Dr. Acula

Namdar showed very well as the back up QB in 2012 albeit in mop up time. He can definitely throw the ball accurately.  Taurice didn't get to throw nearly as much last year, but he's good too.  I agree though, both are too good to not play so WR it is.

Hopefully soph-to-be Nick Peyakov develops under the tutelage of LK. He was the 3rd QB on the playoff roster last year as a freshman so they must like him too.

Fun discussion on the NCAC thread and UAA thread as time killer: what's the best team from each OAC school in the d3football.com era?
I was small but made up for it by being slow...

Burke could probably back him up if LK can't get it done.  ;)

Today is the OAC media preview day!! Is there any way to view this online?? Thanks.

Top 6 of coaches and media polls mirror each other.  Mount, JCU, Berg, ONU, BW, Ott.

I wonder if BW celebrates barely making it into the top half of the preseason poll like they do barely having winning records?  I kid, I kid.   ;D

Honestly, I'm surprised ONU is picked ahead of BW.   There hasn't been a more disappointing team in the last few years than ONU.   They keep slipping back.  In my opinion, they're well on their way to becoming Muskingum without the historic campus and hills.
I find easily offended people rather offensive!

Statistics are like bikinis; what they reveal is interesting, what they hide is essential.

Living in the NW suburbs of Columbus makes Ada a pretty easy hour drive for me. I go to a couple ONU games per year usually.  They have been totally devoid of playmakers for years now.  They are substandard at the skill positions pretty much across the board.  Dean Paul may be a better coach than Kaz, I don't know that, but he sure as heck isn't a better recruiter.   Kaz had big boy D3 talent.  He just could never win the chess match with LK.
