Hello all you D3ers, and my little internet friends!

Just checking in briefly before heading back out to enjoy this just frickin' MARVELOUS summer weather we are having.   ::)

I will catch up once I get Jr. off to OU in two weeks.  The kid is in for a rude awakening when he has to start getting up at 6 AM three days a week for PT.   ;D

Football is just a few short weeks away!

A former Raider fullback wrestled security for a ball at the Jets game tonight.  Any guesses who it might be?  The friend who posted this story apparently will post video at some point so stay tuned.  http://www.reddit.com/r/nfl/comments/2cxtzg/arrested_for_a_game_ball/

Where has bceagle80 disappeared to ? I enjoyed reading his post

Hello all,

I have been busy with work and training and unavailable really to do much other than work over the past 2 weeks. I will try to be a bit more active but will be traveling next week (Alliance, OH). My son starts with football as you all know on the 13th.

Living in the NW suburbs of Columbus makes Ada a pretty easy hour drive for me. I go to a couple ONU games per year usually.  They have been totally devoid of playmakers for years now.  They are substandard at the skill positions pretty much across the board.  Dean Paul may be a better coach than Kaz, I don't know that, but he sure as heck isn't a better recruiter.   Kaz had big boy D3 talent.  He just could never win the chess match with LK.

Watch it, now.  Don't want to shake that Mount Union coaching tree too hard, do we?

Haha good point, Toph.  That didn't even occur to me.  They might kick me out of the M Club or something!  Seriously though, it's just the truth based on what I've seen. A program that used to have a lot of talent doesn't seem to have that same level under the current regime.

Well guys, this is the week.  Guys have been coming back over the weekend.  Freshmen are moving in today.  Players report Wednesday.  Practice starts Thursday.  It's officially football again!

Dr. Acula,

Can wait, still have that post-2013 Stagg Bowl result in the back of my mind. I am sure the coaches are ready to start a new season
along with the returning players! :)

Had a nice long conversation with Coach Woj--he is certainly excited about the possibilities for the year.

Hey Raider68, my friend:

You will be relieved of that feeling once Mount Union gets playing soon, I'm sure!  Hope you and yours are doing well and looking forward to reading your posts again this season.

What a day of driving yesterday. I drove my son to Alliance yesterday. He is settled into his dorm. He is doing the last Preview today and is super-psyched about football. He is going to meet his roommate today as well.

The only downside to the day was the sheer volume of water coming out of the sky. My son was okay with it since it meant he can get down in the mud and push some teammates around on the practice field.

We found out he going to play on the o-line to start. It will be interesting to see where they put him. While he has played left guard predominately, he has played most of the other positions.

Hopefully he will get a chance to meet many of the freshman players today.
I know he will like the campus with the exception of his non-air-conditioned dorm room after practice.
Let us know how it goes.

He already has met some of the guys. When we were in Walmart in Alliance to grab a few things for him, he was greeted with "Hey Raider!!" from the young man he stayed with in the dorm last April. He met another football player a few doors down who is from Florida. He has met his roommate now (from Ohio) and they are all set up with all the comforts of home. While they do not have air-conditioning, he brought his room fan with him which will fit vertically in the windows. They should be good. Worst case scenario, there are places on campus to hang out in that have air-conditioning.

Back in the day, you know, we did not have air-conditioning available like it is today. We survived, I think he will too. August is supposed to be hot but the weather this year has been a bit different.

By they way, the team should be in the stands at the football stadium listening to the coaches even as I write!
