Results of Week #4 of the OAC Pick-Em have been posted.

The wise and talented jaypeter took medalist honors this week with a stellar 12 out of 15.  And this vaulted him to the overall lead.

Week #5 spreads will be out Monday night.
Never underestimate the stimulation of eccentricity.

Heidelberg drops out of the D3football top 25 this week.   Can't really fault the voters though since St. John's and UW Stevens-Point had big upsets to jump into the polls.   Still nice to see #3 and #6 from the OAC though, with Heidelberg and ONU both receiving votes

Well I don't have to worry about staying in the lead, or winning, after the last 2 weeks. Had to go door to door for Tri-C levy this past Saturday at 9AM and the week before I was out of town. Oh well. That is what happens when you wait until the last minute to get yer pick-ems in!

Raider 68

A few thoughts on the Raider- Marietta game:

1. Great crowd for the 100th year anniversary.

2. Not real fond of the all black uniforms (even with the new jerseys) prefer the purple over white or white over purple.

3. Namdar could have some future potential beyond the Raiders if they keep him at WR. He is the fastest player
on the team and will get by anyone the Raiders will face this year including the playoffs.

4. Given that Raider center snaps the ball almost always too high much of time, maybe a some play action passing with K.
Burke under center some of the time.

5. This year's defense is much quicker to the ball than last year and will bring a greater rush than 2013.

6. I like the idea of the quick north/south running and the Raiders have more talent at RB this year.

7. Not seen the bubble screen as yet this year, maybe later in the season with Namdar's speed.

They definitely seem to have good depth at RB.  So far they've rotated Mitchell, Nemeth and Williams during the starters game time.  Aaron and Johnson in the mop up time.  I'm not opposed to spreading those carries out like that.  Mitchell has only 31 carries in 3 games.  Good.  Keep those legs fresh.

I also like that it seems like each guy brings something different.  Mitchell is shifty and lightning quick.  Nemeth runs hard and catches well.  Williams is bigger and stronger, but with speed.  Johnson has shown burst for the big play.

Also, good job JV Raiders going to 4-0 beating JCU yesterday for the 2nd time this year.  Not sure of the score.  Maybe bceagle knows.

Everyone knows this already, but still, it's crazy that Germany Woods transferred to Mount and, after losing the RB job mid-season last year, will barely see the field except for mop-up time as a senior.  Hopefully the move has been a good one for him academically and/or personally.  I mean that sincerely, not being snarky, because I'm sure that it is frustrating to be watching from the sidelines after being a star player earlier in his collegiate career.  But man, how insane is the level of talent at Mount that an all-conference RB can transfer into the program and become such an afterthought?
I was small but made up for it by being slow...

Namdar, Scott and Williams give the Raiders the Home Run threats that the offense was missing last year.  Williams is going to take more and more carries away from Mitchell as the year goes on.  Its no knock on BJ, but Williams has the ability to take it to the house with each carry and having a 24 y/o back has some advantages.  The top 3 RB are really taking Burke out of the running game so far, which is great.

It was also the first time with Lane Clark suiting up for the Raiders this season.  It doesn't seem like Mount will be using a TE very much with all the four WR sets, but having a Kyle Miller 2.0 will be nice in the Red Zone and short yardage situations.

Saw QB Evan Shimensky get some action for Mount. Where does he figure into the QB situation if they are moving him back there. That was his position when I went to high school with him.

I like that Williams has shown a knack for running through arm tackles too.  Some power with that sprinter's speed.

Johnson is going to be a 2nd half all-star. He had a "whoa" 31 yd TD run his first game. He had a 50 yarder Saturday.

Good question. I'm not sure of the answer.  Peyakov seems to be the first in to relieve Burke.  Burkes (the freshman) played third at Musky. But then Saturday Namdar took snaps at QB along with Shimensky and Christy.  I can't make out any semblance of a pecking order.  Bottom line is if Burke gets hurt Scott or Namdar is playing QB, IMO.
