Bennett Rank has a web site that ranks college teams in Div1 through Div3 in multiple sports.  The site uses multiple tools to rank teams including an  algorithm uses a version of a statistical process called regression analysis to determine teams' relative strengths.  HScotch is an engineer so he could probably explain the details of regression analysis.

In any event, for this week BennetRank has Mount Union has the highest ranked D3 team followed by Whitewater, Linfield, Wartberg, John Carol, UMHB, Wesley, St John Fisher, Widener, and Buffalo State in order for top 10.

The best game based on their prediction is #3 Winfield at #6 UMHB.

Other games of OAC importance are #39 W&J at Mount Union and #5 JCU at #55 Weaton.

Craft, that was good until I saw that Fisher, Widener, and Buff St. are in the top 10.  At that point it loses most of the credibility no matter how they figure it out.  The W&J and Wheaton rankings are also a bit off IMO.

I think you have a good game today.  I will be interested to see if W&J can stay in this game.  They are playing pretty well and stayed with Mount somewhat last year.  Enjoy the game and good luck to both teams.

W&J should be interesting game today. Ruffing is a legit back (at least his numbers say so) and they have had good QB play. Any word on Tom Lally? I know he left Adrian game with an ankle injury and have not heard anything on his status. Raiders will need him today if they want to keep the run game in check.

On the UMHB/Linfield game - I really am thinking about changing my pick-ems. Got a feeling about Linfield. Also have a good feeling about Wheaton, not a winning feeling but a good one. The others I think can already be chalked up as wins. Wabash always fights - but UWW is UWW and it is at UWW. But if these could be decided on paper then it would be D1 - so lets play the games!

According to JCU's information, Wheaton is a dry campus. I don't know how these anti-Papists can get away with witholding the sacrament from JCU parents and fans.

10 mins till kickoff in Aliance and stands 1/4 full

Mount not having great success running the ball early.  W&J not having much success throwing.  17-0 mid 2nd thanks to Burke and the D.

Dr. Acula

Interestingly freshmen Jared Ruth (WR) and Jamal Johnson (RB) have both had touches already in this game.  This certainly isn't mop up time so the youngsters must be practicing well.

Thank goodness I'm here not at home watching OSU.  YIKES.
I find easily offended people rather offensive!

Statistics are like bikinis; what they reveal is interesting, what they hide is essential.

As much as I appreciate the live video from Wheaton's WETN...they list Carroll as John Carrol on the bug in the corner of the screen.  Great research, gang.  He was only the first American Archbishop.

Dr. Acula

OSU looks bad, but staring at a 38-0 game in the 2nd I figured you'd be open to any alternative!

Dr. Acula

Burke's 6th TD pass makes it 45-0 in the 2nd.  I think it's safe to start watching JCU/Wheaton now.

Wow!   :o

When MUC was forced to punt twice after their first score, I thought my spread just might hold.  But 38 points in the second period?!
Never underestimate the stimulation of eccentricity.

John Carroll 7, Weeton 0.  End 1.

Burke is making a strong case to be the first back-to-back Gagliardi winner. 6 TD's!

Namdar is special. I think he will really put himself on the map the rest of the way this year.

Rather be here at 45-0 than watching OSU piss away a season.  Besides,  I have it DVR'd for later.

That was the best part of doing Mount during the Cooper years.    It saved the horror of watching it live......

At Halftime
John Carroll 7
Wheaton 6

Wheaton marches down the field and with 4th and 1 scores just before half but misses extra point.

W&J forced 9 turnovers against Wittenberg last week.  How many do you think they will get against Mount Union and do you think that will be enough?

No.

No they won't. I am clearly full of crap and know nothing about what Mount needs to do. Wow.
