Not sure anyone expected that result, desertraider.  W&J was a top 5 offense nationally I believe.  And the Raider D doesn't even allow them in the red zone all day?  That's impressive.

Amazing ... John Carroll blocks another kick.  But they were offsides.  But he misses anyway.

Rematch next week!

Man am I happy that I stayed home today.

Good job Raiders, and the rematch is ON!

Wheaton might want to consider doubling, maybe tripling, the time they spend on PAT/FG this next week. 2 more blocked PATs today. Such a "taken for granted" play that could have serious consequences if they don't get that fixed. John Carrol presents enough of a challenge as is, they don't need an extra point here and there.

From the CCIW board. Nostradamus.

As much as I appreciate the live video from Wheaton's WETN...they list Carroll as John Carrol on the bug in the corner of the screen.  Great research, gang.  He was only the first American Archbishop.
Thanks,in 67 years on this planet, never cared enough to look that up. Arth has a chance to be the only man to lose twice in Alliance in the same season as a player and a coach,,,js

W&J forced 9 turnovers against Wittenberg last week.  How many do you think they will get against Mount Union and do you think that will be enough?

No.

W&J should be interesting game today. Ruffing is a legit back (at least his numbers say so) and they have had good QB play. Any word on Tom Lally? I know he left Adrian game with an ankle injury and have not heard anything on his status. Raiders will need him today if they want to keep the run game in check.

No they won't. I am clearly full of crap and know nothing about what Mount needs to do. Wow.

Well, it appears the game was not as interesting as you had thought it might be!  I had no doubt that Mount would win, however, was again surprised that W & J did not have a better showing against them, just like the Adrian poor showing last week.   With the scores and momentum that Mount appears to be having, I think this would seem to indicate they are improving back to their usual high standards/level of play.  That can do nothing but be a huge plus to them as they continue in the playoffs.

Attempt from 46 was blocked; after offsides, miss was attempted from 41.

They really do seem to be hitting their typical post-season stride. Hearing JCU nearly lose at home (apparently the kick had the distance but was about a yard outside) and the way the Mount defense is playing I wouldn't be all that surprised to see an anti-climactic blow-out next week.

It's not like you can blame W&J's poor performance to the Mount Union intimidation factor either, they faced us two years ago and are pretty familiar with us, and they were coming off a win against a solid Wittenberg win...

I may be over optimistic, but the signs are pointing towards a much larger margin in the rematch.

Do you guys think that the way Mount has just demolished the first two teams they saw in the playoffs will work against them in the event of a close game? Or will Carroll just be another victim of Mount getting into its post-season swing?

Actually I believe JCU was at Wheaton. WJ and Mount are very familiar and I thought that would help WJ a bit. The teams have played before and they scrimmage at the beginning of every year. I know games are different from scrimmages but still - they have seen Mount. I do not have the confidence that next week will be a blowout. I know JCU will come to town still seething from the last meeting AND they have just survived a big test. That should help them a bit. What surprises me about Mount is that BJ has been absent the last couple weeks and Nemeth goes for 100 last week, and Johnson goes for a hundred this week. We talk about the depth Mount has - but these guys don't just fill the void they play at the same level. The key to next week: Keep Burke of his back! If the line can protect - Mount has too many weapons for JCU to cover. We have just witnessed in the past few weeks amazing performances by Tim Kennedy, Luc Meacham, Jamal Johnson, and Logan Nemeth - and that is great. But when you realize they are not even the main weapons. Figure in Roman, Taurice, BJ, Wilkinson and then the newcomers - serious depth. Oline gives KB time and this is lights out by half. Very good analysis, I was personally amazed by the ability of the Mount receivers to stretch the field while maintaining great route running ability and becoming "possession" receivers when necessary. Burke has to be uncomfortable in the pocket for Carroll to have a shot at it. Carroll can stop the run, but gap integrity in the pass rush will be huge this week.
