Ok Mount guys, what is the feeling about the game this weekend?  Has Mount stepped up their game or is it just the opponents not being good enough?  Can John Carroll repeat the second half of the previous game and shut down the Mount O?  Or will this just be another Mount beatdown on the road to another game with your friends from Wesley? ;)

HScoach

Mount played really well against WJ.  Burke was VERY crisp and WJ was not athletic enough on the edges to defend our WR's nor stress our DB's with theirs.

Adrain was Muskingum in different uniforms.

This Saturday should be a real battle.
I find easily offended people rather offensive!

Statistics are like bikinis; what they reveal is interesting, what they hide is essential.

I'm surprised with this speculation about what would happen if Mount played a D-2 or a D-1 team? We saw what would happen when we played Whitewater last year and they kicked our ass. We were no match for them physically, not even close. They were the equivalent of a D-2 team. Not to say some of our boys, like Namdar and Mecham, wouldn't start or play a lot,but the difference on the lines is ,well, what we got a taste of last December.

Enrollment wise, Whitewater is much closer to D1 than D2.

Here are Division I FBS programs with fewer undergraduate students than Whitewater:

Tulsa
Rice
Air Force
Navy
Army
Wake Forest
Duke
Stanford
Vanderbilt
SMU
Louisiana-Monroe
Tulane
Notre Dame
Northwestern
Boston College
Louisiana Tech
Idaho
TCU

I've said it before, I'll say it again. Given that they have a massive student body and an insanely low cost of attendance, University of Wisconsin schools should compete and win national titles in every sport every season.

I know all the reasons this should be a close game with JCU and Mount, but at this time I have a hunch that it will not, compared to the first meeting on 11-15-14.

Yeah, THAT.  BTW -- that is our LT on the ground the background.  He likes to say his guy never hit me - ever.. But I just show him that picture.  97 got there before his guy did because our RT stepped OUT against a 6 man front on a three step pass and this picture was snapped just after that moment of confusion for our young RT (he was a sophomore in his first season as the starter)

Here comes HScoach and Realitycheck.

There you have it guys. No sense in even playing the game. Raider68 has a hunch about this one.

And yet, the NESCAC earns more national titles than the WIAC, proving enrollment does not correlate to athletic success in Division III.

Very true indeed. A quick check of their website shows that last year alone they accounted for 6 NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS!! Basketball, Football, Baseball, Wrestling...all the major sports played by all the schools nationwide. Oh wait, sorry it was: Field Hockey, Womens Squash, Men's Lacrosse, Men's Tennis, Softball, and Women's Rowing. STILL VERY IMPRESSIVE - I am not knocking the accomplishment(s). In fact the NESCAC dominates Squash, Rowing, and Field Hockey. Seems like an awful lot of these are sports that not many schools even have. However, it is still a national championship and something to be proud of.

And before I get a karma kick to the head - I did some checking on Squash. Yes the NESCAC has a number of National Championships in squash HOWEVER, only 33 schools have varsity squash teams. The 33 schools are in 3 conferences: Liberty, Ivy, and NESCAC (all decidedly East Coast) with 11 teams in each conference. Gives the NESCAC a 1 in 3 shot at a National Champ every year. I am just saying its not a nation -wide sport.

And now for something you'll really like (tip of the hat to Rocky and Bullwinkle):

Actually, the NCAA has ruled that since JCU doesn't know what to do with the last 3 seconds anyway - the final quarter will only be 14:57.  ;D

I just hope the game is clean on both sides. Alot of emotion was boiling after the last one - would hate for this one to get ugly.

I could see Mount get up 21-28 points and JCU have some frustration boil over from the first meeting. Just hope everyone comes out healthy. Regardless who wins, I'll be rooting for them to win it all!

Since John Carroll and Mount Union are from the same conference, will the refs be from the OAC or from another conference? I hope there not the same refs from the last meeting

The NCAA is trying to cut costs this postseason.  As a result, they've hired (at HALF the rate of the college refs) three guys who officiated in the Alliance Youth Football League to do this game.
