Since John Carroll and Mount Union are from the same conference, will the refs be from the OAC or from another conference? I hope there not the same refs from the last meeting

The NCAA is trying to cut costs this postseason.  As a result, they've hired (at HALF the rate of the college refs) three guys who officiated in the Alliance Youth Football League to do this game.

So glad to see the NCAA take a stance and get better refs for the rematch.

Sorry to say that would still be a vast improvement over the crew who officiated the 1st game.

It appears that the game will be able to be purchased on the JC site for a price($9.95) guessing.    It is on Boxcast.

Yeah, THAT.  BTW -- that is our LT on the ground the background.  He likes to say his guy never hit me - ever.. But I just show him that picture.  97 got there before his guy did because our RT stepped OUT against a 6 man front on a three step pass and this picture was snapped just after that moment of confusion for our young RT (he was a sophomore in his first season as the starter)

Here comes HScoach and Realitycheck.

I'm surprised with this speculation about what would happen if Mount played a D-2 or a D-1 team? We saw what would happen when we played Whitewater last year and they kicked our ass. We were no match for them physically, not even close. They were the equivalent of a D-2 team. Not to say some of our boys, like Namdar and Mecham, wouldn't start or play a lot,but the difference on the lines is ,well, what we got a taste of last December.

GREAT post, purple.  +K for as long as I can find your name on here.

I hope that there are 3 seconds left...

I hope that Arth has studied the rule book and knows where the scoreboard is at in Alliance.   I'm sure there's a third excuse but we'll cross that later

I wonder if JCU will get the same heat that Mount received about charging to view an online stream?  What do you think Pat?

I though that NCAA rules stated that schools could not charge for online streams during the playoffs.

Before the UWW games started last week, I tried watching UMU/WJ but I didn't see a video feed available on the website.

Enrollment wise, Whitewater is much closer to D1 than D2.

Here are Division I FBS programs with fewer undergraduate students than Whitewater:

Tulsa
Rice
Air Force
Navy
Army
Wake Forest
Duke
Stanford
Vanderbilt
SMU
Louisiana-Monroe
Tulane
Notre Dame
Northwestern
Boston College
Louisiana Tech
Idaho
TCU

I've said it before, I'll say it again. Given that they have a massive student body and an insanely low cost of attendance, University of Wisconsin schools should compete and win national titles in every sport every season.

And yet, the NESCAC earns more national titles than the WIAC, proving enrollment does not correlate to athletic success in Division III.

Very true indeed. A quick check of their website shows that last year alone they accounted for 6 NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS!! Basketball, Football, Baseball, Wrestling...all the major sports played by all the schools nationwide. Oh wait, sorry it was: Field Hockey, Womens Squash, Men's Lacrosse, Men's Tennis, Softball, and Women's Rowing. STILL VERY IMPRESSIVE - I am not knocking the accomplishment(s). In fact the NESCAC dominates Squash, Rowing, and Field Hockey. Seems like an awful lot of these are sports that not many schools even have. However, it is still a national championship and something to be proud of.

Hey what about racquetball?  I played that at YSU between classes.

Oh wait, sorry, you're not actually using facts. According to the NCAA, in 2010-2011:

-407 Division III schools sponsored softball, while just 374 sponsored baseball
-327 Division III schools sponsored Men's Tennis, while just 238 sponsored football
-179 Division III schools sponsored Men's Lacrosse and 159 sponsored women's field hockey, while just 88 sponsored wrestling

The reality is, that while the NESCAC does dominate niche sports like rowing and squash, many NESCAC titles come in sports where there are more teams competing than in the sports where the WIAC teams are winning titles.

I mean, it's pretty laughable you'd call wrestling a major sport played "by all the schools nationwide." Are you even aware of what's gone on in college wrestling over the last 30 years? You know, the part where 100 fewer schools have wrestling teams even though NCAA membership has increased dramatically?

Why don't you just admit that the WIAC is winning titles in what you consider to be the more important sports?

Time Warner Cable carried JCU's first round playoff game live throughout the whole state of Ohio. Hopefully that will happen again this weekend. I won't be spending 10 bucks on the video stream after hearing how poorly it worked for the first JCU/UMU game. Should be a good game though, I expect another close one.

Off topic, but this young lady -- Lauren Hill, is my neighbor.  Great family and she's done some WONDERFUL stuff for Pediatric Brain Cancer in the year since her diagnosis.  I'm sure you all heard about her story and saw the ESPN story on her.  Anyways, her family could really use our prayers.  They signed on with Hospice on Monday.

Sorry for going off topic here, Ladies and Gents.  But I really hope each of you reading this can take a moment and pray for this brave 19 year old as she looks at the sunset of her life.

Mount has never streamed games, likely the lone d3 team with a tv deal.  No matter how upsetting it is to people in MN or such.

I think there is a rule, but you would have to convince JCU that they are not above the NCAA rules.  Trust me, it's a chore.  If JCU doesn't believe,  then it's a stupid rule.
