I haven't heard anyone mention this, but I believe Mount just set a new All division Single season scoring record today, per this wikipedia list: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_500_point_seasons_in_college_football

Can anyone verify if that's correct?

If it is on the internet it has to be true - if its on wikipedia then it is law ;D

Don't believe anything you read on the internet - that's what started WWI.

The wiki site has 837 as highest and Mount has listed current stats showing 844 (including Wesley game). Based on that - it looks like a record. The NCAA has St. Johns listed as Most Points scored in a season 615 in 10 games. That is in the 2014 record book (http://fs.ncaa.org/Docs/stats/football_records/2014/D3.pdf). So if it is only counting a 10 game season Mount falls short (only have 608 in 1st 10 games. That is only looking at D3 - it is late and I am too tired to search more.

it was directed more at the post above yours.  No argument.  Back to talking about the greatest Wesley College football team ever
in

No, I want to hear more about how Mount Union is unstoppable at home...again.  Please.  With irrrefutable statistics.....again.

does 70-0 count as irrefutable?  If you take away 31-0 and 70-0, it would be 80-31 Wesley.  What a program.  Loved Coach Drass' quote after the game.

JCU still sucks.  Myers would "blow" a game against Wesley

On a completely different note, anyone else think that the timing of UB announcing the hiring of LL to be a little odd considering that he was still in the middle of a playoff run?  I may have missed the discussion of that on this board, but just wanted to see what everyone else thought.

I think your question got lost in the shuffle.

I believe that the timing of the announcement had more to do with Buffalo wanting to get it out there (and thus more time for recruiting) than UWWs current status of being in a playoff run.

If and when VK leaves at the end of the year (likely to YSU) I bet he takes Kappas and Dartt. Also wouldn't be surprised if he gets Raeburn to go with him and maybe Sirriani. Is Zac Bruney still floating around, because he could be a fit too. YSU will be the D1-AA version of Toldeo with it's Mount Union dominated coaching staff.

The big question in my mind is does LK stay and go back to HC, or does he go too as AD or President of football operations or something like that.

If I could make one comment about the UWW-Lin game ... Riddle would try to force the ball if there was nothing, Behrendt was more likely to throw it away.

But Riddle has Burke-like legs.  He will be a handful when MUC meets him in the Stagg next year.

Have you already given up on this year mom?

What is the early line?  Lets go out on a limb and make a bold statement.

OK ... just for you ...

Early line is MUC by two scores.  UWW has not impressed me with close games against Wartburg and Linfield.  MUC has blown out everyone except for JCU, the second best team in D3.

But don't tell anyone I said that.   :-X

So now JCU is better than Linfield? Wow.

It's amazing how inflated a sense of self gets out of proportion when you scrimmage 13 times and and play an above average team once.

So now we enter the nearly annual ritual: Despite their cute little dancing and prancing over lesser teams, Mount ain't all that. UW-W knows it. Mount forgets it. UW-W reminds them. Mount fans leave silently.

See you Friday.

For discussion purposes;  If the rumor about VK and YSU comes to reality, I believe that LK would return as HC until he is absolutely certain that he has someone worthy of the position and whom he trusts to run the program.
He will never allow Mt football to suffer or be threatened with taking a step backward.
If there is someone out there who he has absolute trust out there, he would hire them.  It would be the highest compliment for LK to hire you.  I believe it would be Raeburn,

Congrats to Mount for a fantastic game yesterday.  Totally out coached and played Wesley.  I posted my thoughts on the ACFC page so I am not going to reiterate here.  I will say that from talking to my friends at Mount that this was the best game they have played in several years.  The lines dominated the game.  I had been told that that was the weak part of the team, well if that is true, good luck to UWW.  I agree with DEwesleyfan, Wesley seemed to quit before halftime.  As far as the special teams go, that was normal for the entire year.  I told several people before the game that I expected Mount to block at least 1 punt.

I, like many others, thought that Wesley had a chance, but as the great Vince McMahon likes to say, "NO CHANCE, NO CHANCE."

Good luck in the Stagg next week.  I will not be making the trip as life gets in the way sometimes and I will be moving on Saturday so Friday has to be prep day.

Great hanging with skunkssidekick, saintsfan, and raiderguy at Don Panchos for breakfast, that and having my Dad tag along, turned out to be the best part of the trip.  See you all again next year, maybe I need to hope that we are on the other side of the bracket and play someone else in the semis.

LK and VK and Raeburn and Dartt all leaving their jobs and converging at YSU. Wow what a concept!  What a vacuum that would create in D3 coaching. Is nepotism still illegal? Now THAT would be a dream team! With Tressel kibbutzing in at the strategy meetings, YSU could beat the Browns 3 times. out of 5. Especially if the scores is close inside of 2 minutes and the Browns are in the lead. ::)

Ya know all this talk of VK and Dartt and Raeburn - and YSU? It had better be all talk. I swear if the "news" posted after the Stagg Bowl is "Breaking Big News Mount wins #12" or "Breaking News UWW repeats - again" that will really tick me off. However if the news does not involve VK, et al moving on then I will at least be able to breathe.

YSU? Why? Aside from pay, where is the advantage? Mount plays on national TV and gets more exposure than YSU. It has to be a rumor - YSU? No way VK heads off for that. He'd be smarter to head up the road and take the Massillon job than YSU.

Dr. Acula

It did say in the Vindy that YSU interviewed D2 and D3 candidates.  It didn't say when that occurred so I wouldn't be surprised if D3=LL given what we know now.

Dr. Acula

As for this Friday, I think UWW is the favorite until proven otherwise.  Their close games don't really affect my opinion because unlike Mount's offense UWW is not designed or intended to put up huge numbers.  It's designed to control the ball and win football games.  Wartburg having success against the UWW defense is the most positive thing I've seen.  It means that if Mount can protect Burke they can score some points.  But recent history has taught us that's a big if.  Hopefully the lines are up to the challenge this year.  It should be a great game.

The advantage is the pay. Fired HC at YSU was making $260,000. I am guessing VK isn't anywhere close to that at UMU (less than half). And he gets to go be his own legend somewhere else ala Tressel. May not be an advantage to some but probably is to most.

VK to YSU ?....If so, then does Eric Reaburn return to Mount Union?
What about Don Montgomery?
They should have practiced harder.

Depending on VK's aspirations, I think YSU would be a very positive step towards a D1 job. Getting used to that type of recruiting with a mentor like Tressel could prepare him for the next level.

All that being said, I obviously hope he goes nowhere.
