To all the OAC Posters, Merry Christmas and a Happy and Healthy New Year! :)
13 time Division III National Champions

Dr. Acula

Congratulations to Matt Campbell who got an early Xmas present when Toledo extended his contract.  He's now inked to be the Rockets HC through 2020.  My money is on him not seeing the end of that deal though.  If he keeps going 7-1 in the MAC he'll be gone before then.

Did anybody see Cecil's td pass?

Doing a quick comb through the All-OAC lists this morning realizing that it's going to be a very interesting year in 2015.

The two top dogs are both replacing All-American caliber QB's.  JCU also graduates Greenwood, Strippy and Michals so they're in store for a lot of change at the skill positions.  Howell and Carozzoni both return to ease their pain.  Mount graduates Wilkinson and Meachum, but returns their top two WR in Namdar and Scott.  Not sure who will play QB for either team, but that has to be the headline going into 2015.

While not in the class of Burke/Myers, Berg also has to deal with replacing Mees who was a 4 yr starter and pretty darn good QB as well.  They have Lacey to step in and take Brooks' spot, but he has been banged up some in back up duty so we'll see how the wear and tear of being the main back goes.  They also need someone to take Dye's spot as the #1 WR.  I only watched them play twice, but I didn't see the next Dye on the field in 2014.

I think that Mount will be better in terms of total talent 1-22 than in 2014, but because one spot they won't be is QB I don't know that they can be as good (at least offensively) as 2014.  Defensively they should be better again in 2015.

Mount will be fine at QB. We know that Namdar is very accurate and throws lasers. But is he more valuable as a receiver?  NO. That said, is Scott more valuable as a receiver? Yes. Take Namdar off the field as a pass catcher and another prospect steps right in and the scoring doesnt suffer. The only reason not to choose Namdar is if you want to develop another 3 year player at QB, and they might at that. Namdar is very fleet footed and comparisons to Micheli come to mind. He did pretty good, didnt he? I see Namdar as a pocketpasser type and that puts pressure on the line. Whitewater exposed the line and we need to work on that end of the equation. I still see the need for a stout blocking back, especially in the playoffs. Mitchell really impressed me with the unselfish sacrificing of his body picking up blitzers. He is a few rocks in his pockets short though to be doing it very often. Nemeth has a lot of heart and determination but is not really best used in that role either. Im optomistic about Williams speed in the backfield. I hope his injury doesnt adversely affect that. Any update on that injury?

On the defensive side I believe we need to find those aggressive, fast, mayhem causing defensive ends again. I believe that would have made a huge difference in this last Stagg Bowl. We were WAY too passive and that made us easy to march on. Philosophical differences maybe, but it WAS for ALL the marbles, I thought we played as if we knew that we were going to get scored on and was just trying to drag it out as long as possible. Whitewaters defense did to our QB what we should have done to theirs. Why we let him survey the field for so long doesnt make sense to me. We are close to being championship material. Just gotta find a few missing pieces.

Can OSU beat BAMA or does BAMA have to royally screw up to lose? I cant decide whether to get excited about this one or not? Im afraid that those SEC type defensive ends are going to kill us again. If we win then I will get excited about the next game, that much Im sure of.

I'm curious if Mt fans felt the Mt O should have gone deep even more to Namdar.
You could see the UWW safeties are a bit over aggressive on play fakes.

Dr. Acula

I think ideally they would have liked to take advantage of Namdar's ability to get open deep more, but it's difficult for them to consistently get the protection to do so against UWW.  Otherwise you end up with what happened in the 2nd half...Namdar catching a wide open TD pass that is negated by holding.

Looks like former Raider Jason Hall is the next coach at Westlake High. That didnt take long. :)

Former Raider now Asst Offense Head coach Ed Wariner is going to be coaching in THE BIG ONE! Good luck to Ed and the BUCKEYES. How long till hes a big 10 head coach?

Now tell the truth, who thought THE BUCKEYES would win that game? Not I. What do you figure the odds to be against Oregon?

reality check

About the same as the Buckeyes' odds of beating Bama so lets hope history repeats itself.
OAC Champs: 1942 (one title ties us with Ohio State)
OAC Runners-Up: 2017, 2016, 2015, 2010, 2009, 2005, 2004, 2001, 2000, 1999, 1982, 1941 (Stupid Mount Union!)
MOL Champs: 1952, 1950

Mr. Ypsi

Despite being a Michigan fan, I'll be rooting for the Bucks.  But, geez!, does Oregon look good. :o

Things are looking up for my other favorite team to hate - Michigan State's ONLY two losses are to the two teams playing for the title!  I doubt they will pass 'bama, and TCU may stay ahead with their total dismantling of Ole Miss, but they may finish 5th (I would HOPE they would pass Free Shoes U after they totally threw in the towel against OU).  (BTW, I'm now torn on my feelings about Jameis Winston - he was one of a handful of FSU players with enough class to stay on the field and congratulate the Ducks; most ran for the locker room. :-\)

He's still a thief.  And a (accused) rapist.  And a misogynist.  And clueless ... after the game, he told a reporter that it wasn't a blowout, but the game could have gone either way.
Never underestimate the stimulation of eccentricity.

Yeah - I'm not THAT torn!  But he was one of the very few from FSU who had the decency to stay out and congratulate the victors.  In a last second loss, I have compassion for those too devastated to remain.  But they knew for the last hour that they were toast.  BOO to those who ran off.

And in his post-game defense, it COULD have gone either way ... if not for a gazillion FSU turnovers!  (IF he makes it in the NFL, that back over his head fumble may live forever!  Actually, that was so funny, it may live forever even if he is a bust!)

Mount Union will be fine at QB. VK has many options depending on the style of QB he chooses to use. I would not be surprised if he uses combinations of QBs depending on the opponent. The key is having a young men who can handle the pressure of leading a top rated program. They exist and are already on the team.

I believe the Mount Union O-line is going to be better in the 2015 season. The players are ready to start off season workouts and are focused on getting better. My son has been working out at the local Y over Christmas and is preparing to excel. As an example of how hard he works he is presently building up his ability to do full body weight dips. He now can do three sets of 10 and is focusing on doing 30 consecutively before spring ball. He also has put on another 10 pounds since August (muscle). He has not lost a step of quickness.

I know we have lost some young men to freshman players changing their minds about being at Mount Union. The Freshman roster is down to 83 and I know more will come off. This is expected, and, while I am sure VK and his coaches do not want to lose anyone, the young men have to do what is right for themselves.

Random question for those of you who are OSU fans (which I am not):

My buddies and I who were watching the OSU/Bama game were left wondering why/how does Cardale Jones have like 19 helmet stickers when he's only played one game? Does OSU give out stickers for sending out dumb tweets and skipping class? (he's rather famous for writing that he came to OSU to play football, why do I have to go to class tweet).

Seems rather odd. Does anybody know?
