Random question for those of you who are OSU fans (which I am not):

My buddies and I who were watching the OSU/Bama game were left wondering why/how does Cardale Jones have like 19 helmet stickers when he's only played one game? Does OSU give out stickers for sending out dumb tweets and skipping class? (he's rather famous for writing that he came to OSU to play football, why do I have to go to class tweet).

Seems rather odd. Does anybody know?

There are team stickers that can be earned along with personal results. For example I'm guessing every member of the team gets one for beating Michigan, one for winning Big 10, one for making playoffs, etc.

All that being said, I think Cardale would've looked more like a badass if he didn't put any of them on, just to drive home the fact he, a 3rd string QB, beat the #1 team in the land.

Found this from the Tressel days:  http://buckeyefansonly.com/buckeyeleafcriteria.html
National Champions - 13: 1993, 1996, 1997, 1998, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2005, 2006, 2008, 2012, 2015, 2017

reality check

Cardale should have asked for the Tressel criteria for his stickers.  By my count, he would have entered the Bama game with:

12 stickers for wins
9 additional stickers for B1G wins
6 stickers for winning TO margin
5+/- team big play stickers
Another 5-8 offensive unit stickers from Wisconsin game.

So that's around 37-42 stickers.  (Yeah, I'm that bored)

Kehres never tried to recruit players with bad attitudes so a player like Jones wouldn't interest him.  There are some reports that Jones has turned things around as far as being focused and not having the entitlement attitude and if so he would be a minority since most never wake up and get it.

As far as buckeye stickers are concerned, Jones probably got 2 or 3 for the ass-kicking he put on wisconsin.

Interesting fact courtesy of Jeff Zupanic of the Review...with LL leaving there will not be a single active HC in D3 who has ever won a national title.  First time that's been true for a long time.

Don't think that's quite right.  Didn't the coach who won at Linfield in 2004 just come back to D3?

He's still a thief.  And a (accused) rapist.  And a misogynist.  And clueless ... after the game, he told a reporter that it wasn't a blowout, but the game could have gone either way.

Don't get me started on this guy.  Delusional.  His first rough patch in the NFL will probably result in a Vince Young-like situation where he's outside of the football complex with a pistol.  It was great to see him lose so spectacularly and to contribute the play for the lowlight reel??  Christmas came twice in one week for this guy.

Kudos to Matt Campbell for getting that bowl win last night and finishing 9-4.  And thumbs up for OC Jason Candle too whose offense put up big numbers to cover for their sub-par defensive effort.

You have teams in your list that average between 4-6 wins a season over the last ten years.  So why not include Baldwin-Wallace (59 wins in last ten years), OTT (60 wins) and ONU (67 wins in last ten years) in addition to JCU, Mount and the Berg?

I mean, hell, Capital has a similar record over the last ten years as some of the "power" teams you mentioned.

Maybe you have your answer with those win totals?!?  In the last ten years, the OAC has had Mount (10x), Berg (1x), JCU (2x), ONU (1x) and OTT (1x) in the playoffs.  That's fifteen playoff appearances by the OAC in the last ten years.  The WIAC has had 14 playoff teams in that span.  Honestly, the other conferences are tougher to figure out because some of them play additional games and I don't feel like looking that deep into ten years worth of D-III playoffs.

With Pool C bids at stake I dont think anyone is looking back 10 years to see how many games OAC teams have won overall. With Wesley, Salisbury and CNU in the new NJAC there is an legitimate argument that it is a better conference than the OAC, right now, top to bottom. (If we want to look back 10 years I think there is only one NJAC team (in new conference) that has not made the playoffs in that same span. The bottom of the the NJAC is much stronger.

I think in recent years the MIAC has proved beyond a doubt that they are number 1 or 2.
If you're looking to strengthen Pool C caliber of teams, we need to start looking at recent performance of teams against the best competition.
