Jason Trusnik shared on social media today that he has signed with the Carolina Panthers.  I'm thrilled he is continuing his career.  He's a great teammate and locker room leader.

Yikes. Those are 3 intimidating looking LB's!!  8-) ;)

And the RB makes me thankful UMU doesn't put last names on their jerseys!

Should we be worried about the demise of UMU??? :'(

Kid from my hometown.  Great kid, great family.  Beaten out for QB position as a junior (by a classmate) and converted to DE/LB.  Started as senior DE on 12-2 state semifinalist.  Highlight of the season was probably scoop-and-scoring on a blocked punt in the district championship game (30 seconds into video linked below, not that you can see much of him until he gets the ball) to avenge a regular-season loss between two of the better small-school teams in the state.

He's not a program-changer for a team like Mount Union - too small - but he's a solid trooper that any coach would be glad to have in the "good citizens who will do right by the team" category.  I really hope he does well there.
I was small but made up for it by being slow...

"College football is a pretty solid way to go to one of the top schools in the country and pay a minimal amount of money," -Tyler Rentz

I'm guessing mom and dad are helping with the tuition bill. This sounds like something my son would say.   :)

Ha!  This made me laugh.  I have a much greater appreciation for the sacrifices my parents made on my behalf (and my brother's) now that I am a working adult, but I recall being an 18-year-old kid who just knew that money was always there when I needed it.  I don't think you can really understand of the value of a buck until you start paying your own bills.

Jason is a great person.  I remember when Jason was a scrawny quarterback and wrestled at 112 pounds at during his freshman year at Nordonia High School.

Amen! And it's never too late or too repetitive to say "Thank you" to our parents while we still have them around!!

And I remember when he was a not so scrawny senior playing my alma mater in the state championship game in 2002.  I didn't realize at the time that at least three Nordonia players in that game would go on to great careers at ONU (where I was a junior at the time).  It's also worth noting that three guys in that game ended up playing in the NFL (Trusnik, Rob Sims and Javon Ringer).  Cool stuff.

I know it's a state to the left but can anyone give me feedback on Fort Wayne, IN?  The wife might have a good job prospect there.  I know nothing about Fort Wayne other than that it's 90 minutes from ONU.  (I looked up that info because I have priorities).

My Aunt and Uncle live out there. All my cousins went to Bishop Dwenger high school, which has a very good football program. Every year they make a run (but has never won) the IN state title. They consistently recruit produce DI NCAA talent, as a handful of kids over the years from Bishop Dwenger have gone on to play at Notre Dame (under scholarship).

I believe it's a pretty conservative town, with many church going citizens (my aunt/uncle/cousins included). Overall population roughly at 250K (second largest in Indiana).

Plus it is confirmed to be within the intolerant borders of a state we call Indiana -- home of the recently passed (and updated) Religious Objection Laws.  So there's that..
