Sam is good on the play by play, but Ric and Coach were dedicated, prepared, entertaining, and Mount guys.  I will miss em.  I would like to thank them for their time on the air and the many exciting calls over the years.

Exactly.  I honestly can't believe there hasn't been more talk about this situation on here.  Ric and Mark were VERY good.

The biggest thing that'll be glaringly missing is that Ric and HScoach know things like Mount history, the OAC, D3 at large, etc. off the top of their heads thanks to years of following Mount closely.  And they care about those things. Plus I'll dearly miss the volume (and pitch) of Ric's voice going up as he got excited on big plays.  That was the best because you knew he was right there with you on the edge of his seat too.

Sam will do a good job.  He's an absolute pro.  And he's a born and bred Stark County lifer so he's certainly not a total stranger to Mount's program.  But that's still not the same as "our" D3 guys.

Thanks guys.   I never claimed to be a pro broadcaster, and honestly tried to avoid becoming or sounding like one, but what I took great pride in is my knowledge of Mount history and players, general knowledge of game and the little tactical games-within-the-game, and trying to offer more insight into the broadcast than just saying who made the tackle.   That's the stadium PA's job.  I want to know why that specific guy made the tackle and why it was made where it was made.  I hate listening to most radio broadcasts, especially OSU, because the color guy adds very little to explain the "why" things are happening.   Ric was great and didn't need help explaining the action, it was my job to explain the why and I took great pride in doing it to the best of my pea brained capabilities.

It was a very fun ride, but life has gotten too busy for me to spend that many Saturday's driving to places like Wilmington to broadcast a game where the only person listening past halftime is Ric's mom.  I'll miss doing the JCU/Hberg and late playoff games, but the rest of the weeks aren't worth the headache anymore.  And I'm really glad I'm done with it.  Waffled over this decision the last couple years and couldn't pull the trigger.   Thankfully 2014 made the decision easy.

THANKS AGAIN.

P.S. to Mr. Mom:   I still have my cowbell sitting on my shelf at the office.   It gets quite a few interesting looks and has started a lot of great D3 football conversations.

I find easily offended people rather offensive!

HSCoach,
I listened to a number of your broadcasts online and  I agree with everyone else.  You did a great job.  I would add that the quality of your work was so good that the broadcast was enjoyable for non-Mount fans as well.  That's not all that often the case. I hope the move out of the booth makes this season even more fun for you!

You honor me sir.  That had to be one of the funniest ideas I've had in my life, and I still bring out the recording of your two cracking up every so often.

Thank you for all the behind-the-scenes help in my continuing attempt at fulfilling your Pick-Em shoes.  Ric's Mom and I will miss the two of you on the radio.

Good luck to all the OAC teams playing tomorrow! As much as we might dislike each other during conference play, I think we can all agree a few wins would look great for us! Let's start the season right!

I just looked at the Cortland St/Berg game notes.  Not only lots of new faces for Berg, but lots of sophomores and juniors starting.  My biggest games to keep an eye today are Berg and Ott.  Very curious to see how both fare especially with Walt's post about the OWU scrimmage.

Safe travels to all the OAC'ers this morning.  And I'll echo bluestreak66...let's go get some wins today!

HScoach and Ric B.

Going to miss you on the broadcast this season. You were both great all these past years and knew the Raider history so well.

Hope you will continue to post with your comments and thoughts on the season.

Thanks again for everything you put into it. :)

I can only speak for me but.....I dislike John Carroll during conference play, non-conference play, practice days, off-season and even on Christmas day ;D. However - have mad respect for Arth from his playing days and what he has done since taking over. BUT respect isn't LIKE. Could be worse though - you could be BW.  :o Roll Raiders ~ Roll!!!

Safe, clean games for all OAC, and all the rest as well. Thank god football is back!

Berg gets the ball first and puts a TD on the board at Cortland.  Looked good running the ball. The Red Dragons answer right back, but go for 2 and fail.  7-6 Berg.

Berg stays on the ground and scores again.  Lacey and Vocke splitting carries.  Again Cortland responds.  14-13 Berg.

Berg blocks a punt deep in Cortland territory, but settles for a FG on a drive started at the 11.  17-13.

What the heck is going on at TMC?  SJF is getting absolutely manhandled.  27-0 at half and looking at the stats they look like a 27-0 game.  Wow.
