Even then, you won't catch me betting against them in the post-season! ;)

I think Pat may be taking you up on that, Ypsi!  What are you guys putting on it?  ;)

Not sure how the Raiders lost (2) first place votes when they won 47-0 and the teams ahead and below did not play?  ::)

mr_mom's spread is more powerful than you think. Consequences soon follow if one of his odds weren't met (Moun Union -53.5 against Belhaven).

;D

Please, no!  That kind of pressure I do not need.   :o

I mark it down to traditional Purple resentment.  Or maybe the Butterfly Effect.  Blame Canada.
Never underestimate the stimulation of eccentricity.

I think your definition of inordinate may not be the same as others' and you kind of gloss over the major coaching change -- not just head coach but both coordinators and another full-time assistant.

Yeah, the coaching changes DO give me pause, but the UWW fans seem content that he knows the drill. ;)

We'll see over the coming weeks.

Did I miss something about graduation losses?  It seemed to me that they didn't lose any more than the usual school who has perennial all-conference and all-American seniors lost! ;D

Toph

Just looking over the stats from JCU's game, I'm afraid the Streaks are going to miss Ivkovic in the kicking game.  One extra point missed, a second blocked...that's a rough start for the special teams.

Nice piece on LL at Buffalo.

http://grantland.com/the-triangle/2015-college-football-lance-leipold-buffalo-wisconsin-whitewater/

Among the interesting bits: "They talked about Mount Union and Whitewater being rivals," Leipold says, "but I looked at them as our allies because they've been able to take on Division III in the same way."

Not a bad read.

Good read.  Hopefully LL can get a win against Penn St. Saturday and really make a splash.  D3 HC to D1 HC is a big jump.  All of D3 should be rooting for LL to win big at UB.  He's carrying the flag for every quality coach in D3 who gets looked down on by uneducated fans (and evidently AD's) because it's "only" D3 football.

Since I posted the LL............felt a bit nostalgic and re-read one on LK

I don't know who made his visor (please not Nike) but that is what I am looking for! Wonder if he would sell it ???

I am rooting for LL on Saturday. I don't know if Buffalo has the talent (yet) to hang with Penn State but LL will get everything from his players and IF they lose it will not be due to lack of preparation or being out of his "league". LL is the real deal. Good luck Bulls.

OMG Desertraider...the best stable of running backs Mount has ever had? Are you serious? Not even close.

amonachino

Does anyone know what has happened to Cecil Shorts's brother who I heard the impression was coming to Mount.

Dr. Acula

It's always fluid the first week or two of the season so I always review the roster for changes.  Here are a couple changes of interest I noted:

Jared Ruth is now listed as a RB instead of a WR.

David Burkes, who split time with Peyakov as backup QB last year, is now listed as a WR.  He got in the Bethany game at WR with the 2nd unit.

Really? I notice you have failed to offer any options. Mount has had great backs, and even a pair of great backs. But typically they have 1 or 2 solid (say Moore and Pugh), an additional 1 or 2 that will give you yards when needed (terrance morring or Kilechi Ibeh - slaughtered the name but you know who it is), and then a couple that could be really good but have fumble problems (aaron robinson) - injury problems (drew prendergast) or guys that have great potential (germany woods) but for some reason it doesn't pan out.

Again - 1 game - but I would put a backfield of Scott, Mitchell, Johnson and Nehmeth against any of the previous. No one is going to give you Kmic or Moore numbers but top to bottom it is a better group.

Could have sworn I saw his name on the roster before the season started, and I know I had seen it previously, but I don't see it now. Not sure what happened.

He's on campus and, I believe, trying to re-gain his eligibility.

Academics first....even at Mount Union (tip of the hat to the NCAC'ers). I hear he is quite talented, hope he gets on the field.
