Dr. Acula

Nothing too exciting on the 2 deep this week.  David Burkes moved into one of the backup WR spots this week.  Other than that I didn't notice any other changes.

There was a time when Cap week would have spurred a lot of activity in here.  But alas Jim Collins left town, Rocky Pentello ran out of eligibility and it's been pretty sad in Bexley ever since.

Also, I was looking at the box scores from last week.  Ott was only up 10-0 on Wilm at half.  And Wilm put up 427 yards of offense and out gained the Cards for the game.  Dare I ask if the Quakers are getting better?  I know Ott is not good this year, but still.

Can't blame them. Think how attached a town can get after several decades of the same guy under center.

Too bad you fans of the purple don't support the baseball team like Dr Acula does so we could make fun of you over there.

Mount has a baseball team?  Really?   When did they start that?    When will the craziness end?  Hmmm, I wonder if they  play basketball too.....

And for the record,  I'm a smug U of Akron grad.

We KNOW you're a smart guy from the Quote Classes you've taught here.. But AKRON??  Were you roomies with skunks_sidekick??

No, I didn't know Sidekick then.  Though it's not really surprising that we never crossed paths since I was in engineering and he majored in basket weaving.   Those classrooms were on opposite sides of campus.

Because it is the middle of the week and I am bored:

1. What team breaks Mounts scoreless streak?
2. What team is first to really challenge Mount (I don't think it will be an OAC team this year)?
3. More likely to happen - VK steps outside and schedules NAIA or DII team (like a Notre Dame College) OR VK pulls a LL and moves up to DII or DI?

Mount Union's non-conference schedule is set through about 2020. Unless Division III changes the maximum number of regular season games or someone leaves the OAC, there's no scheduling for Mount Union to do for several years.

And your premise, of course, assumes any D-II team would be willing to lose to schedule Mount Union.

True on all points. My thinking is that if VK is at Mount for games being scheduled after 2020 - he is going to be around a while (maybe not a lifer - but close). The Notre Dame College thing interests me since Bill Reichel is a Mount alum and HC at NDC.

Who is Mount going to be playing? Do you have any info on any other OAC non-cons?

I don't have any info on others.

Mount Union plays Rose-Hulman next, in 2016 and 2017, then plays North Carolina Wesleyan in 2018 and 2019.

I'll give them a lot of credit for stepping up, but those games are going to be U-G-L-Y.

Averett ugly?  Those games were not fun.

Hi I haven't had a chance to get to alliance in 4 years and I was coming to akron for a afternoon game Saturday so I was thinking of catching the Mt.-Cap game as well. Does anyone have any idea what kind of crowd to expect and if there will be plenty of seats for the game?

I believe it was announced that UMU and Westminster will go home and home in 2020/21.  Should be scintillating.

Probably not quite that bad, but pretty darn close. You know the old joke where someone says "we don't live in the middle of nowhere, but you can see it from our house"? It'll be analogous to that.
