Mount will never schedule "up" as long as LK is in charge, and I agree with the philosophy.  It would be nice, as a fan, to see Mount schedule Walsh, Malone, and maybe some Pa. schools, but it will never happen on LK's watch.
Further, I don't believe that VK will leave Mount anytime soon.  The father-son loyalty is so strong here that moving may not be considered, unless dad encourages it.  LK was a devoted son to his father and I believe Vince is the same.  These are quality family men who think beyond moving up for the sake of moving up.

Mount Union has a difficult time scheduling opponents because most teams avoid playing them.  During LK's tenure Mount has scheduled teams like Whitewater, St. John Fisher, Allegheny, & Wooster but it is difficult to get teams to agree to play them.  If your schedule up refers to Div II schools well those teams have been reluctant to play Mount because the better Div II schools have too much to lose.

LK encouraged his nephew Erik Raeburn to unlike Larry to be mobile and move on.  Larry mentored Erik and even selected him to be a coach for Team USA.  Erik will probably move up for the right opportunity, but from what I heard Eric and his family are happy in Crawfordsville.  Vince and his family are happy in Alliance so I don't see any change for VK in the short run.

- Keep your powder dry
- Keep your martinis dry
- Make your OAC Picks knowing most teams will be very wet!

This weekend will have 13.5 hours of televised college FB on Saturday followed by 16.5 hours of Pro FB on Sunday.  Amongst this apparent Nirvana I expect a given number of broken marriages.   :'(

Good luck, y'all!

Never underestimate the stimulation of eccentricity.

after about 7 hours of getting soaked at akron and mt. today I am going to take a brake from football and go watch some racing.

Mom, I sent my wife to Florida with her mom and Sis (and our daughter) for our anniversary.. So I'm in the clear this weekend with football after dropping them off this morning already.  I love them, but I also love football.  I'm meeting Adam Turer at TMC/WJ today.

JCU leads 17-7 at half as they intercept a deflected pass in the end zone to end the 2nd.  ONU decided to run one play from the 4 with 10 seconds left and it didn't work out.  JCU D has looked very good outside of one play really (69 yd screen to Magazine).  If I'm an ONU fan I just tell myself if we just stop giving them the ball we can win this game still.  3 Freed turnovers have hurt the Bears big time.

Dr. Acula

Soph Tyler Stoyle has taken every snap at QB for Berg today. He had 150 yds and 3 TD at half against Ott.

Freed's 4th turnover starts the 3rd.  Pick 6 for JCU.  24-7.

There you go, kid.  Nice long drive for ONU to answer.  PAT no good. 24-13.

27-20.  Video feed is down.

27-23.  Video is back for the stretch run.

Holy crap!  Freed throws a 35 yd TD on 4th and 20.  It was essentially a Hail Mary.  30-27 ONU.  Less than 5:00 left.

ONU in victory formation following a game clinching 3 yd run on 3rd and 3 by Magazine.  Huge run when they knew it was coming.  Got it by inches.

Any of you Mount fans tailgating in the lot at the corner of State and Rockhill?  I'm with the group of Cap fans at the RV and flag if you want to stop by and say "hi."

Big ONU win. Happy for Reality Check.  You can send me tonight's chicken wing bill if you will pick up the bar tab the next time we have the pleasure to get together.

reality check

I'm happy for reality check too.  I was following the ONU twitter feed in the cell phone lot waiting on my mom to arrive in the desert.  Very proud of the way the Bears played today.  Still disappointed in the BW game as this team has some solid pieces.

The shutout streak ends.  14-7 Mount after Cap puts together a 78 yd drive highlighted by a 36 yd Walton run.  Bad news for Cap is that Mitchell and Nemeth are gashing them for big chunks.

Mitchell scores to make it 21-7 quickly. He has 121 yds on 8 carries.

At the half in 59 minutes.  Cap is snapping the ball with under 5 sec on the play clock every play.  TOP was 22:42 to 7:18.

Surprised to see the triple option giving the Mount so many problems tonight. It's not a hard one to defend - have to stick to your assignment(s). Can't be selfish facing that type of O - want to see the adjustments made at half time.
