Also, JV Raiders stay undefeated by pounding BW 41-7 yesterday.

I did not have a chance to watch/listen to the Mount/Berg game.  It looked like the accuracy was improved in the passing game and Nemeth had another big day running the ball.  He's having a heck of a senior season so far.  Berg, as expected, didn't seem to have any answers defensively.

BJ was contained for the most part. The Berg D was able to prevent him from cutting back and had decent speed laterally. However, Nehmeth doesn't do much East/West - took the handoff and hit the hole fast and hard. The Berg D just couldn't stop that. On a separate note: why does it seem no -one can pronounce "Lally"? I have heard it as "Lolly" and Lay-lee by even Mount announcers on a regular basis. However - they all seem to have no problem with Hietshue (granted I can't spell it). Just curious-

Interesting about the BW/Mount JV score. I was at a 5k on Sunday and had a BW guy come up to me, point to my Raiders sweatshirt and say "When I was at BW we beat you guys". Great. A) that was a looong time ago. B) I never played for Mount. Oh well-

ONU fans... A month or two ago I offended some of you by saying I thought it would be challenging to recruit city kids to ONU because of Ada being in the middle of BFE.  I made my first ever trip to Ada this past weekend...and while it is smack dab in the middle of BFE, I must admit the campus is very nice and the athletic facilities are arguably the best in the OAC.  I know it's a good school, but it takes a little more than that to persuade a lot of 18 yr old boys.  I see how the facilities can help the cause. I was very impressed.

Shameless self promotion:

The Head Football Coach at my HS resigned on Friday morning and I was named Interim Head Coach.  We won Friday night 55-27.

I should retire now with an undefeated record.   ;)

Who gave you that idea?!?

I was one of those kids that wanted to get away from that urban setting I went to high school in.  And that was before Dial-Roberson was even in the works.  We used to be able to brag that ONU was the furthest college campus from a McDonald's in the country since you had to travel to Lima to find the nearest one.  (I have no idea if that's true by the way but it sounded legit).  I'm still mad they got rid of my Hardee's and their delicious spicy chicken sandwiches at about 2 am on Friday/Saturday nights.

Week #8 Pick-Em spreads have been released into the wild.

My apologies for chickening out and not including the Rowan-Wesley or TexLu-UMHB games, but I didn't expect them to be very competitive.

So get out there and pick early, pick often ...
Never underestimate the stimulation of eccentricity.

Finally a topic in which I have some knowledge.  Around 2000 was the height of the $1 sandwiches at Hardee's and 99 cent chalupas.  I believe this is the sole reason I entered Ada at 230lb and left at 285lb. Maybe the Reagle Beagle helped as well.

I grew up not far from ONU but have only been there once (back in 1984 as a kid). For anyone that has been to Hiram (where I went to school) how does it compare? I mean Hiram had nothing - except Garrettsville (and that aint saying much).

I really have no business commenting on the current state of Ada since I'm thousands of miles away but I have been back a couple times in the last decade at least.  I haven't been to Hiram (they were on the way out my freshman year and we played Hiram in Ada that year).  That said, Ada has changed a ton since I was there in the early 2000's.  The number has grown but there are four or five pizza options, three mexican restaurants, a chinese restraurant and Subway, McDonald's and Taco Bell for fast food options.  KFC and Hardee's are gone from the early 2000's but McDonalds, Viva Maria, 3 Brothers Pizza, Jalapeno's Mesican, El Campo are all "new" places in Ada.

Had this conversation with my cousin, who was visiting from Mexico.  Regionally, I've noticed there are ALOT of new choices if you want Mexican food.  I'm not trying to get into some political discussion but it makes sense Ada would be included in this with three new Mexican establishments.
