JCU's D appears to have found its stride.  Now just a little help from the other side of the ball...

JCU's D found a strong tail wind

Yes, the wind is causing sacks.  Faster first step with the wind behind them, of course.

How windy is it?  Mount didn't kick a FG from the 8 yd line!

Good defensive half for both teams.  Scott is throwing very little downfield.  Nemeth carried the offense for the most part.

It's windy alright, I was only making a crack about how some folks seem to think that only God (and apparently Whitewater) can stop the Mount Union offense.

Even when Mount had the wind, Nemeth was the biggest threat.

JC is playing smart. On offense they are going with short passes - limits the Mount D ability to get sacks and lost yards. On D they are not letting anyone deep. Taurice has held the ball on a few long routes and was sacked. Mount needs to be more aggressive on Offense. Nehmeth is having a great game but they need to start hitting Hargrove and Kennedy in that 8-10 yard range. Scott had Kennedy on 1 or 2 but threw it behind him. I would like to see Mount throw on 1 st down. Techmo Bowl 2nd half coming up!

Toads! It was a Plague of Toads! It had to be God that brought them - but it was Toads....and Whitewater.

I was just asking in general because I was curious if both teams were throwing mostly short stuff by design or because it was too windy to throw into the wind.

JCU has kept routes short, as has Mount for the most part.  Like some posters said, Scott held the ball a little too long, led to some big sacks for Carroll...but that had nothing to do with the wind.  JCU's D got put in a tough position to start, and seems to have settled in.  The offense can't do anything on the ground, and the passing game is up and down.  Hopefully I'm way off in my predictions and we have a hell of a second half.

JCU defense is playing though, but Mount offense is moving the ball with the wind at their backs

Vince Vaughn does a great job of play-by-play for Otterbein...
Why the defense ain't werkin'?

Tom Lally is now the sack leader for Mount Union.  Congratulations Tom.

reality check

Justin Magazine rushed for 6 TD's today in the 42-10 victory over OTT.  His 6 TD's ties Jamal Robertson for most rushing TD's in a single game.

That also puts him into a tie for second all-time in the OAC behind only Wilbur Etter's 8 rushing TD's for WITT back in 1920.

JCU played real hard today and they were a good test for Mount Union.

Mount's defense has been playing lights out all year and appear to be peaking at right time.  Mount has given up a total of 34 total points for the season which is the second fewest in history.  In 2007 they held their regular season opponents to a total of 24 points.

Earlier in the week I said to pull out all the stops. Go on 4th down - try anything - fake punts-----didn't think Mount would be the team pulling the fake. I only wish I could have seen it.

6 scores isn't a bad season!  Magazine had a great year.
