That's the first round game I'm most interested to see.  As usual Franklin can score a lot of points and so can ONU.  It should be a fun game.  And for ONU it's absolutely a winnable game too.

A lot of us didn't think ONU would get in, but they did so now it's time for everyone to fall in line under that OAC flag.  That's one thing I enjoy about D3 as opposed to D1.  I live in Columbus.  Most OSU fans would NEVER root for Michigan or Michigan St. or whoever if they made the CFB playoffs.  They'd openly root against them.  D3 seems more like the SEC.  ONU is in and they're in our conference so most of us become ONU fans next Saturday.

Should be a good game.  Very winnable for both programs.  ONU hit the mini lottery.  Got in and then is not being sent to a sure death at a top seed.  FC got a decent deal as well.  Home game against similar talented opponent.  FC has been sent to the first round gallows a couple times in the past.

I am all for OAC - but I had UWP. Hard to put ONU in with a 51-7 loss, even if it is to Mount. Plus, that game was 51-0 with the ONU TD cominh with 14seconds on clock. Still - all the way in support of ONU and Coach Paul. Where them Polar Bears at?   :o

Dr. Acula

Not sure I would expect a ton of banter in there or in here about the Mount game.  My guess is this board spends more time talking about the ONU/Franklin game since it's much more interesting.

What are you looking for? "Geez I hope it's a single monkey stomp and we can put 10 points on the board?" Or "what do you think the over/under is for more than half of UMU's starters to be out of the game? Is it 4 minutes after halftime or 10?"

Maybe something along the lines of how this team is better/worse than the 2010 team that came to Mount. I don't know - signs of a heartbeat among any of the LL posters.

Ah. I think Dlip has some of that in the East Region Playoff thread. See here: http://www.d3boards.com/index.php?topic=4930.4170  Starting about halfway down.

In the interest of playing Devil's Advocate, St. Lawrence could beat Mount Union.........much like Wilmington could win the OAC next year, or a donkey could win the Kentucky Derby, or I could win the lottery. These are all possibilities that, strictly speaking, have a probability of greater than 0%!  ;D

Until the final whistle there is always a non-zero probability of a result. From the movie, much unlamented by me, Dumb and Dumber:

Lloyd:  What do you think the chances are of a guy like you and a girl like me...ending up together?
Mary:  Not good.
Lloyd:  You mean, not good like one out of a hundred?
Mary:  I'd say more like one out of a million.
Lloyd:  So you're telling me there's a chance.  Yeah!

SLU you are officially Lloyd. Enjoy Alliance.

They should enjoy Alliance. Its a nice town. There is a decent Chinese restaurant just off campus, the pre-game brunch is great - Hall of Fame nearby. Lot's to do.  ;D

I almost put on there something about Canton, decided that before the game they wouldn't enjoy it because of the butterflies and after the game they won't enjoy it because they still have a long bus ride home to wonder what the heck just happened... again...

As a SLU fan there's not much to say really.  This team is WAY better than the 2010 squad.  Should be 9-1 if not for a terrible call on a last second TD.  Our QB is the best in school history, he's balled hard this year.  Our defense is is our strong point, as we have an extremely talented DT, LB corps and All American DBs.  However, I'm not delusional.  Mount Union football speaks for itself.  I would be happy if the team could compete for a half.  Sometimes we're feast or famine.  It's either lights out, shut down football or extremely careless and turnover prone.

While I am very pleasantly surprised about ONU's inclusion, I am also intrigued by the team that heads into the playoffs.  QB Will Freed had some very good moments in the first half of the season but the offense really seemed to discover its identity in the last couple of weeks.  Offensively, the Bears have averaged 51 PPG in the second half of the season.  Obviously Mount did a number on them but even the four other first half games, the Bears were only averaging 30 PPG.  Hopefully they continue to ride this wave into the playoffs.

I saw the first game of Freed and was incredible to see all the bombs he was throwing!! He had trouble converting in the red zone, but it look like there wasn't a throw he couldn't make. So I was fine with the choice of Freed over Johnson. I then went to the Halloween game and saw Johnson put on a show. Throwing and running he looked unstoppable; 3 TD's throwing/3 TD's rushing 341 yards and backed it up with 365 yards the next week. We couldn't decide if it was the level of the team he was facing or if he was simply that more talented. My husband said everyone has played those teams and no one else put up those numbers, but I think this weekend will give us a good look at RJIII. Thoughts?
Go Lady Polar Bears! Beat Mount Union!!
