The thing that jumped off the page about Albright to me:  Freshman QB, Freshman and Sophomore OT's. That bodes well for the next two years, but not so much for Saturday.

Never liked the multiple quote in a post so:

HSCoach - Yep Magazine did mean more to ONU than Nehmeth did to Mount. But Havens probably meant more to Marietta than either of them did to their respective teams (1200 passing, 550 rushing) and I don't see his name by any awards. Just saying-

ExTartan - Not sure if Magazine on Mount's O would do anything for Magz numbers. It had a negative impact on Germany Woods.

As for the Albright game: it should be interesting. Throwing the ball against Mount is the way to go. I think the secondary has not been tested and thus has not developed in terms of pass coverage. It is a by product of that front 4. If the front 4 get to the QB and force him to run for his life then it will aid the secondary. However, if they go short and quick routes they could move the ball. If I am Albright I work on 5-10 yard routes. Nothing more than a 2 count in the QB's head. Forget the longer stuff because the D-line will not give you that kind of time. I expect Mount to use Corner and Safety blitzes. Again - Mounts ability to pressure the QB and force mistakes, throw aways, and sacks is great but the secondary has not had to really cover WR much. Could hurt in later rounds.

Any word on Alarms?

It certainly didn't hurt that Magazine's year also set a new school record for scoring in surpassing Vagedes and Robertson who were the previous co-leaders for scoring in a single season.  If Nemeth was breaking Mount scoring or rushing records, he'd be a shoe-in.  And I know you already eluded to this, but it IS okay to share with the rest of us when it comes to awards.

And sharing is caring ;D. Magz (sounds cooler than Magazine) is a great back, no doubt, I just think Nehmeth is better thats all. Plus if Nehmeth was breaking Mount rushing records (i.e. Kmic, Moore, Pugh, etc.) he'd be a shoe-in for more than OAC awards. Speaking of sharing - anyone think Kocheff's chances get hurt by 2 consecutive to Burke in the Gagliardi voting?

Kocheff could be affected by Kevin Burke's winning two years. The committee may seek to spread it around this year. It is
interesting that the favorites may be from the defense! We'll see! :-\

Interesting that you bring this up; one of the prevailing opinions last year was the opposite, that Wesley had some modest success early in the power run game and their mistake was going away from that, with the Mount defense just being too fast for anything else.  I don't know that there's really a great solution here for a team like Albright, who just doesn't have the dudes to win this one no matter what they try.  But I think it's interesting that you think short/quick passes are the answer against Mount - because I'd worry that the MU defense is too fast for that (again, just citing the example from last year, and the reaction after Mount's decimation of Wesley) and I'd probably be tempted to stay on the ground for a series to try to calm the kids' nerves, let them settle in and get used to the speed of the Mount defense, and avoid the risk of a pick-six or sack-fumble in the first quarter, which could accelerate the demise.

(I also wouldn't tell my players any of this, haha)
I was small but made up for it by being slow...

It helps when you spell the guy you think is better's name correctly.  Sort of adds some legitimacy to the argument in my opinion.  ;)

Dr. Acula

As a former Accounting major myself I was happy to see a couple Accounting majors on the Academic All-OAC squad.  Good job, Logan Nemeth and Brian Groves!  It's certainly not easy to keep a 3.5+ cumulative GPA with the hours they put in for football.  And congrats to all the fall athletes that did the same across the OAC.  It takes hard work to get that done no matter the school or the sport.  Truly an accomplishment to be applauded.

^^^  Absolutely.  Hank is an absolute model student-athlete.  Great player, 3 time captain and an even better student.  He's already won that Elite 88 (89?) award twice at the Stagg Bowl.  My brother-in-law graduated in CS from Mount and he said it's no cake major.  I didn't mention him simply because I was pointing out kids who wisely majored in Accounting like me.   8-)

Thank you Ohio for beating Northern Illinois tonight (despite the first drop-kick-onside-kick I can remember).

If Mr. Campbell and his boys win Friday, they take the MAC West and can play themselves into a New Year's Bowl against Bowling Green.
