Two Wesley touchdowns were directly the result of Mount Union missing what appeared to be easy tackles.  But give them credit. If Callahan isn't the best qb in d3, I hope we don't see the best anytime soon. The loss of DB #5 really hindered Mount pass coverage as they appeared to pick on #21, his replacement, a frosh giving up a height advantage. He gave it a good effort, but #5 would have most likely made a couple plays the frosh could not.  No excuses tho, I am sure Wesley had some banged up kids as well.
Oshkosh had the ball and the chance to get into FG position in the last two minutes, but WWW held.
A great match for next week that should create a attendance record at Mount Union, assuming that they play in Alliance.

The one thing that was discussed a great deal was that Mount gave the ball to #1, a small back on 3rd and 1 and 4th and 1, instead of Nemeth and he got stuffed both times...

If my math is correct - and it probably isn't - Logan Nemeth is now second in the country in yards per carry.

(7.8 to QB Samuel Frasco of Augustana at 8.0.)

Channeling his inner Nate Kmic, I guess.

Mount plays the 11th ranked team with, and I repeat, an All-American QB and all of a sudden Mount has "issues." Oh brother!

Rumors were floating around Alliance this week (from a few of my impeccable sources) that there is a chance the ESPN Game Day folks were considering coming to town if it ended up being Mount vs. UWW.  Anyone with any knowledge as to that?

Would be neat, but if I had a guess I'd say Gameday is at Army/Navy next week.  Or a studio show.  Or none of the above.  Do they generally do a Gameday when there is only one FBS game?

This. I don't understand all the doom and gloom. The defense was finally tested today. I think they'll take their lumps in victory and allow it to fuel preparations this week. I can guarantee VK and Kappas will be reminding them every minute of every day how many points they just gave up.

In all honesty, I saw what I wanted to see today. They needed a punch in the mouth to remind them they are human. And as noted above, it was against the best offense and best QB in D3.

As Aaron Rodgers would say, R-E-L-A-X

What's the measuring stick for the best Qb?
Plays on UMU?
Set a D3 record this season?
PC says so?

I was a bit surprised by the play calling on the the 3rd and 1 and 4th and 1 running BJ up the middle stopping two drives in 2nd half.  UMU got conservative with the lead while Wesley with the gutsy gun-slinging Callahan leading the way took more challenges which kept the game close for a significant period of time.

So is all of this worry about Mounts D warranted or overreaction?

Mount's D is a little better than last year.  But getting banged up.
I find easily offended people rather offensive!

Statistics are like bikinis; what they reveal is interesting, what they hide is essential.

I know people keep mentioning Mitchell on those short yardage plays that were unsuccessful, but I truly feel the staff wanted to get BJ some meaningful snaps since he's been out for awhile. From memory, he did well in the carries leading up to that. The other thought I had was that they thought they could get by them without having to use Nemeth, but their defense made some plays in the 2nd half, as well as Kehres going Tresselball on us.

I'm excited/nervous for the rematch because of the line play. We didn't get as much pressure on Callahan as I thought we might.

One thought I did have that seems like a plus for the Raiders in my mind is the agility/speed of Scott compared to Nelson. I think there will be pressure on Scott, but they will have to account for him all the time. Whitewater has become more run oriented vs being balanced and Nelson wasn't as quick as I thought he was when watching them the last 2 weeks.

It's going to take a great TEAM effort from the Purple Raiders to beat WW, but I think they can do it! They need to play like it is the Stagg Bowl....well not like we played the last 2 times, but you know what I mean.

I don't care who is playing defense; when your opponent has a great quarterback , a good game plan, and really good receivers, they are going to rack up yards and score points. Wesley is a very good football team, by far the best we played this year. But for the turnovers, and the ten yard punt, they could have won. I cannot imagine WWW has anything close to the passing attack Wesley has, and we should be able to outscore WWW.

Only argument here is UWW can POUND THE ROCK and I think can control the clock I think. If this turns into a shootout UWW has no shot.

Is Mount better than a 42 point effort from UWW last year? I'm hearing different things from this board haha

Not saying Mount loses but if Burke had trouble you know the new converted QB will too. Wesley's defense has been porous all year. UWW will be a different test. Either team can win this.
