Tom Lally, Mike Furda, Hank Spencer, Alex Kocheff, Tre Jones = All-Region 1st Team...Sorry Skunks but  with these guys I don't see any issues with our D.

Will Trey Jones play?

How will the rest of the Defense play against Arguably the Best OL in D3?

Will Coach Dart Give the ball to Namdar on 3rd/4th and Short plays?

If I understood correctly both Tre and Nick Rodriguez were banged up last week and Alarms played but not much (that I saw). Mount needs to have Tre on field (with his head able to turn in coverage  ;D) as well as Rodriguez and Alarms to have a shot IMO. The D has to have everyone on the field - this isn't the Stagg Bowl......but it is the Stagg Bowl.

So you have a player with the last name of Alarms? Took me a minute to get that, I thought you were saying alarms were going off when they got hurt.  ;D

Purpled, the 2 have not bearing on each other.  The fact that 5 players made all region 1st team does not mean that Mount will not have trouble stopping UWW.  From what I saw on Saturday they very well could have trouble.  That will not take anything away from the play throughout the year by the aforementioned players.  Before last Saturday the questions was had Mount played any offense that presented any issue for them to worry about.  That is not the question this week.  Almost everyone knows that UWW will present some form of issue to the Mount defense.  Will it be the same as the passing attack that Wesley had, no.  But trust me, Mount will have issues to deal with come Saturday.

I like K&J's questions.  I think they will play a huge part in the outcome of this game.

Emma made some good points in a previous post also.  The angst of the questions unanswered until Saturday is what makes this game very interesting.  After last Saturday I did not think that Mount had much of a chance, but after reading some of the concerns that the UWW fans have from what they have seen of their team this year I am starting to lean towards a much closer game since some of the concerns that I have about the Mount D may not be exploited by the UWW offense.  This is going to be a good one.

Both statements are true in fact. Durum Alarms and yes - the alarms were going off when they went down. Mount has had some great names over the years: Alarms, Dieusel (Diesel), Budzinski (Lambert no less) were my favorites.

The thing to keep in mind about last week is that Mount was really gearing up to contain the passing of Callahan (IMO) and with more deicated in that area the run game had a few holes. UWW has a solid QB but he isn't Joe Callahan. I am glad Joe C is graduating.

Get back to me when you have a player named Spud Dick like DePauw did about 5-6 years ago.  :P

I will admit that Spud Dick is a tough one to beat (no pun intended!) but I played against 2 guys in high school with the last names Butcher and Bonecutter. I have always thought those were two awesome names for football players...sound great on the PA.

UNW (UMAC variety) had a good middle linebacker named Kirby Skul back in the day. Always thought that was pretty epic for a defensive guy.

It's been buried for a while but here's a link to the Interesting Player Name Thread that is on the general football board.  I typically scan all the SCIAC rosters when writing the season preview capsules to find the gems in terms of names.

Personally I found the passes that went from Seman to Shorts the most entertaining.

Yeah, I used that phrase to embarrass my teenage son.  But it was Neal SEAMAN.  And if you are trying to be disgusting, it is SEMEN.

SEMAN means nada.  Spellchecker, dude!
