I'll post my prediction having been a part of these games before.

We can beat the line play to death and we all know how this will be the determining factor. What I THINK is going to be the determining factor of this game is not the O LINE play of the Warhawks but rather that of the Raiders. We have seen the UMU offense the past couple years have this quick strike ability, and the Warhawks have known that at any time from anywhere on the field UMU could score.

But, having been around football my whole life, a quick strike touchdown is not nearly as demoralizing or tiring as long bombs and big plays. If UMU can sustain drives against UWW of say 10+ plays, I think that would far benefit them in wearing down the defense of UWW. If it turns into them either hitting the long hitters or 3 & outs, letting Whitewater play the clock control game will not help.

I think this game goes to Whitewater. I don't see how the UMU offense can be any better without Burke at the helm, and even then we saw how much he struggled against a UWW defense who was extremely young as a front 7. Bring everyone back from that group, and I think Scott might have some issues.

UWW 31
UMU 21

I cant see Mount giving up more than 21 pts, maybe 24 tops. I think T Scott is just what we need in this game. He wont be sacked much if at all. He just needs to make smart throws.

So Wesley's scores 35 and UWW will not score more than 24? Maybe.

Mount needs to score early, make a few plays to gain some separation and then hang on for dear life at the end.   It's really easy for UWW to play with a lead offensively, run the ball and take a shot every once in a while.   Put them behind and make them come back.   I'd be beyond shocked if Mount can win by rallying late.
I find easily offended people rather offensive!

Statistics are like bikinis; what they reveal is interesting, what they hide is essential.

And 23 to St. Lawrence.....

(I know, I know...16 came in the 4th against Mount's backups.)

Based on what?

For all the concern about Taurice Scott, there's another starting quarterback in the game who's never led his team to to a semi-final or Stagg Bowl win.  Not knocking the guy - I thought he looked awfully poised in the quarterfinal - I'm just sayin'.

Abraham Lincoln to a couple of his generals who were somewhat less than eager to engage the enemy early in the Civil War:  "You are green, it is true; but they are green, also; you are all green alike."

In fairness, Lincoln's generals immediately let the Confederates rout them at Bull Run shortly after he said that, so maybe not the best analogy!  ;)

As many others said, the game will be close and can go either way. My difference maker will be Taurice Scott. For my money he is the best athlete on the field tomorrow and he'll have the ball in his hands every offensive snap of the game (barring injury, of course). I think Scott steps up and puts up a fantastic game (250 pass / 100 rush) and extends drives with his feet to keep UWW offense and beast of an O-line on the bench.

Regardless, I'm just excited for what should be a fantastic game between two programs. Safe travels to all attendees and GO MOUNT!!!

UMU - 42
UWW - 35

Unrelated, but my favorite has always been when Lincoln wrote McClellan and said, "If you are not using the army, I should like to borrow it for a short while."

Best way to deal with a QB/athlete like that is to legally hit him as hard and as often as possible. If it can be done enough the possibility of him getting spooked is high since he hasn't faced pressure like that yet. Doesn't mean it will happen, but it's a good way to spook them.

I am just saying that Kevin Burke was one of the best QBs that we have had but he was basically ineffective when he played whitewater so now you throw in a different QB maybe it is just what we need or maybe it will be a disaster but I think the senior will step it up big time in his last game as a Raider

You don't watch / listen / read about / follow Division III football very much, do you?
I was small but made up for it by being slow...

I am sure Purpled would disagree that I think this way, but I do see how Mount can win this game.

1.  The D-line gets off early, and puts UWW in 3rd & 6/7, and the boys get loose.
2.  Taurice makes a play early, and gets his game on.
3.  Mount gets one of their "special teams" plays, and feeds the frenzy.

It's not that I don't think Mount can hang if it becomes a grind it out type game, but it would certainly favor UWW.  I do think our "less than secret weapon" is Nemeth.  He can hammer with the best of them, with a very good sidestep, make them miss once type move.

Heading out to wingathon shortly.

So it was back in maybe 2003 or 2004 (although I have a very sketchy memory).  BW's was near the mall, and Pat was in for the semi-final.  I think it might have been our first semi-final wing gathering.  And the rest...is wing history!
