HURF!  Good point...that is true I am sure.

Are you heading down?  Skunk, Jr., and I will be here at the homestead watching on TV.

SF - are you out there or totally consumed with work/holidays?  Give me a shout if you get a chance.

Wesleydad - text you tomorrow during the game.

got it, will be at school holiday party, so my texts may get crazy cause you know us teachers tend to drink a little.  :)))

I'm out - was going to attend and help the D3 guys with something but I'm staying in Boston for our Company Christmas party, which is a big deal to our owners.  Safe travels and bring home a W... Oh and check Triple Take tomorrow for my prediction.  Interested to hear if you and Hscoach think I'm right about the keys to the game:  defensive speed and explosive offense

EDIT:  I'll call you tomorrow.  Have a couple meetings in the AM so it will be around lunchtime.

I posted this days ago on the MIAC page but nobody there actually wanted to talk football.  They're all too busy arguing over mindless drivel so I thought I'd copy it here.   .

The previous mention of a true blocking FB is an interesting component of this match up as Mount doesn't see any old school traditional offenses in the OAC outside of Baldwin Wallace and they're very average.  Only real power team they've played is UWW.  Almost all of their games are against spread or passing heavy teams, hence the 4-2-5 defensive alignment as their base.  The power running game with a TE or two has given Mount trouble historically.    That's not what they typically see nor is the scheme and personnel geared towards it.  Not saying Mount is incapable of defending power, just that it's outside the norm.

Mount did a great job against UWW but after seeing them live, I wasn't impressed by their skill people.  Which made it a lot easier to attack the line of scrimmage.  Real curious to see the offensive skill of UST.   I know their O-line is huge and talent and the TB is a upper level transfer stud, but what about the QB and WR's?  Should be a great game.

If Mount plays with the same energy and precision as last week:   Mount 31 / UST 21

If they're a little sloppy like they've been the last 2 Staggs against UWW, then I'll be glad I watched it at home and didn't have a pissed off 7 hour drive to look forward to.

I think UST should be concerned about QB play since their starter has only thrown 53 times in the past three games.  Leading WR?  15 catches in those three games.  Stud TE?  7 catches in those three games.  UST has been very good at slamming the ball off tackle in these playoffs and the QB has been very good at times during the season when they weren't playing playoff level teams... So why the lack of passing plays?  Has UST been playing coy with the pass game, ala Larry Kehres with Micheli or are they "all in" with that ground game?

If they are all in with that rushing attack, what happens if Mount strikes early for a couple big play TDs??  That front 7 for UST won't get home every time and I know they have two great CBs who've been shutdown in the playoffs but I think the threat of T Scott running the ball changes things.. And if the DBs have their backs to him and he gets into the secondary, it's trouble for UST.

If I had to point to one telling stat that will determine this Stagg...

Mount 1 turnover or less = WIN
Mount 2+ turnovers = UGH

And someone who posted that Mount's kicker is good from "40 yards in" must have NOT been watching the kicker I saw the last three weeks.  Solid on xpt, but FG's are iffy beyond 25-30.  I haven't looked it up, but what are his stats for the year?

Caruso is 26-2 at UST when his team scores on a blocked kick, INT, or punt/kick return.

26-2?  That's pretty impressive.

For what it's worth,  Coach Kehres, the younger and less accomplished Kehres,  is 42-2 when they walk onto the field.
I find easily offended people rather offensive!

Statistics are like bikinis; what they reveal is interesting, what they hide is essential.

Is there a football game today?

Roll, Raiders, roll!
Reloading--Again, and again, and again....

The front page of the D3 website needs a countdown to kickoff clock....then I could check it every 20 minutes to see WHEN...will be a long day awaiting the KO.

I am missing my second Stagg ever which includes the Raiders, but will sit in the isolation of my man cave so I can yell, scream, curse, and snack to my heart's content.
Go Raiders...play your best and leave it on the field so there will be no regrets.
Good luck

Don't forget to get your OAC Playoff Pick-Em selections in before the game tonight.

If a Hall of Fame of great d3boards posts existed, this would be a first ballot entry.

Safe travels to everyone heading to Virginia.  I'll be the extremely good looking guy in the JCU sweatshirt.

Looking forward to a great game and a Raider victory tonight. It would be great to see this group of Seniors get bookend titles. I was reading the predictions and saw a lot of mention of Simmet and UST O-line and Lally, Alarms etc on Mounts D and thought about something. Simmet lines up on Mounts left. Lally and Alarms are typically on Mounts right (at least at the games I have been to). I know they move them around and am sure they have game planned this but - Simmet on Furda leaves me feeling uneasy. Furda is a heck of a player but he goes at 220 (ish) with Simmet at 350 :o

Just a thought.

Watched a bit of his tape and he is nimble on his feet for 350 but sometimes is slow getting out of his stance. UST has played some great teams this year, and some quick ones too, so we shall see. Regardless I will NEVER use "UST hasn't seen a..........". Cheers to all and +K on a Raider victory!
