What a great game. Down 14-0 I was getting a little ticked until I really looked at the situations (LK talked more than once about field position and UST had that in the 1st qtr. 2nd qtr I felt better. 3rd qtr - I almost lost my mind. I really wanted to see another score. The D adjusted well to Roberts and he was really a non-factor in the 2nd half (the offense scoring fast helped with this). No offense to UST (they played a hell of a game) but I think their size on the O-line hurt them. By 3rd qtr they looked tired and slow, skill players made great plays but it semed they were in spite of the oline. Simmet? Who is Simmet? Did not thnk Mount could handle him that way. This was impressive. All the talk of UST handling A. Scott and comparing that to T. Scott....well that and $1.70 will get ya a cup of coffee.

However - LOGAN NEMETH WAS THE MOP! Taurice played a great game (and after this run has entered the conversation of Mount Union Greats - but Logan owned the day. I will enjoy this tonight but come tomorrow...."so who's coming back and who's coming in?".

                   Not 1, not 2, not 3, not 4.........12!!!!!!!

Now that it's all over, I think in the final top 25 you go Wesley at #2, no disrespect to anyone.

And, oh, by the way, the holes Mount's offensive line created in the second half were absolutely ridiculous.

there was 1 game mount was worried in the 4th q and it was not tonight.  take away the fluke Tds and this game is not close.  I have not issue with Wesley as the #2 team.  Why not?  Mount scored 49 and Nemeth ran for more tonight than he did against Wesley and he capt it off with a 75 yard run.  I saw nothing tonight from UST that says they beat Wesley.  They do not out score them.

Close only counts in horseshoes. Transitive properties off a single common opponent isn't as simple as you make it to be. If Welsey's goal was to Finish the season with a #2 ranking they should have started by running through the regular season unbeaten. Loss by the same score. If your racing on here to say my teams looked cuter than another teams loss in a completely different situation that's a little silly.

UST has some very nice blowout wins to point to. Linfield, Wabash, SJU x 2. A half of football shouldn't discount all of that.

Mount's speed was so overwhelmingly impressive. The right adjustments were made and they got space for all the playmakers. Taurice Scott showed he should probably have been a first team AA today. Great reads and plays in the 2nd half.

since all we have is a common opponent, why not?  What did UST do that was better than Wesley?  You can have all the other stuff, but common opponent is pretty good for me.

Made the mistake of reading comments on the Sportscenter post announcing tonight's victory. This was the gem of the group...

"Dynasties at this level are not impressive or newsworthy. If this is such a football hotbed and attracts such good players, why didn't any of them make D1 or even D2 schools? Heck even FCS? My alma mater Slippery Rock would destroy them. I always thought this was ridiculous to celebrate."

Sometimes you just can't fix stupid.

PURPLED!  Please tell me when to show up show I can worship at your feet!  Or maybe just buy you a drink or something.

Kudos to UST for starting strong.  I was a bit worried, but I figured once Mount got the wind watch out.  Once we could throw the slant, and could open up a bit, it was all over.

If not for the craziest set of circumstances (some created by UST, and some created by bad officials, and some created by who the H*##knows), this game is not that close.

Great finish for those seniors.  They have set the bar very, very high.  The men playing next year have a lot to live up to.  Here's hoping they can do it!  I always thought 13 is a cool number.

How about LK's face/demeanor at the end of the game.  Now THAT was priceless.  And funny, but word was he would/could listen in to the headset, but couldn't talk.  Hmmm...quite the mystery!  HA HA!

I mean no disrespect to anyone but - #2 doesn't matter. None of the teams entered the year saying "we want to almost win it all". Now that the season is done we know only 1 thing: Mount is #1. #'s 2 through 25 are all a debate based on this and that. And no I am not saying this because Mount won. Look back in this board and I said it 2 years ago when Mount got pasted by UWW. I said that who is number 2 (some said UMHB, some Wesley or NCC or insert school here) is irrelevant because Mount didn't play for 2nd and neither did the others. It may be unfortunate but it is what it is. Ok now I have to go look at stats - I believe Mount held Roberts under 40 yards in second half...nice. Oh - and Mount won! Nicer!

Mr. Ypsi

wesleydad, I greatly respect your passion and most of your posts, but you are focusing way too much on one game and ignoring a whole season's worth of evidence.  UST has several WINS better than any wins by Wesley, as does UWW.  I AM strongly considering you for 4th on my posters' poll ballot, but that is the upper limit.

Lane Clark stepped up huge these last two weeks. Who saw that coming...

Having fun with it.  After tonight I have a whole different level of respect for how good Wesley was this year.  4th is good to me.

I'm with you. It's a fight that circles the toilet bowl that I get myself in sometimes.

Very impressive squad. Vince Kehres showed some mettle today. A couple of strange calls in the 1st quarter, but he and his staff made adjustments and beat my Tommie
Squad going away. Hard to fathom how to match that speed to win a Stag one of these years. UST had a very nice recipe for against everyone but Mount. Back to the drawing board. A lot be proud of too at the same time!

I know the UST coaching staff and team had a lot of respect for Mount going into the game and that only grew after tonight's performance. Caruso said Mount was the benchmark from which all others measure up. Based on today there is slot of growing still to do. Assume he said as much Kehres after the game given the long friendly conversation.

Mount's skilled players certainly put in a brilliant performance as has been mentioned.  However, IMO, the big difference in the game was Mount's O-line.    They did not do a very good job during the first half, however, when they decided to start blocking in the second half like the talent they have, their "student-right" and "student-left" tides simply blew the St. Thomas defense away.  I agree with desertraider's comment that the huge St. Thomas lineman appeared to tire progressively as the second half continued on.

Anyway, congrats to all you Mount Union people and, of course, Mount's players, VK and his staff for an impressive and well deserved Stagg Bowl title win.  Congrats also to the St. Thomas team and staff for a fine season.  It was a great game and one of the better Stagg Bowls in recent years, IMO (at least from a fan's standpoint in watching the game.  :))

What a game! I didn't expect it to be high scoring. Congratulation Mount Union.
