As for the Scott over 7 thing?  That one I just don't see.  Scott had a great year.  Throw in the fact that he played WR last year and it was downright exceptional.  But Borchert was a surgeon out there.  A robot.  He was like a QB developed in a lab.  Burke was a great QB.  Great enough to start 3 years and win the Gagliardi twice.  He still finished 2nd in career TD passes...55 behind Borchert.  55!

Was Borchert the QB we faced in the years prior to our meetings in the Stagg Bowl?  I only saw that guy play once but you could tell he was damn good.

Where would you slot Greg Mecheli?  He was absolutely amazing in the 2006 Stagg.

No, Borchert was the guy to immediately following Jim Ballard in 1994 and quickly proved that the great teams of 92 and 93 weren't going to be an aberration.

As a comparison to recent history,  think Greg Micheli with a much stronger, more accurate arm.  Threw the deep ball with the same accuracy as the good QB's throw a 10 crossing route.    Dude was sick.  61 TD vs 2 INT his senior year.  The crazy part was that he was an option QB in high school and rarely threw the ball.

Great info thanks for posting this...

Obviously, The Great Number 7 is the best career QB. Hell, he started as a freshman, and came within a whisker of winning the Title his freshman year. I would take Scott in the Championship game to start. The Great Jim Ballard is the guy who showed us it could be done. He had a good team with him, but everyone who saw the Rowan game could see we were small compared to Rowan. Ballard simply would not be denied on that day. Lk also out coached Rowan, and his leadership was never more apparent, and telling, than that day. I put the 2015 team on top, because I've never seen Mount play better than they did against WWW. Lk doesn't compare teams,or players, but it's fun for us during the long off season, even if some have to resort to insults to make their points, which I take with good humor. All time ,career QB at Mount? (1) Borchert (2) Smeck/Ballard/Adamson/Michelli/Burke? Adamson is often forgotten , but he went 28-0, and pulled off some dramatic wins. He also damn near beat out Smeck his sophomore year.

Wow! Now that is decisiveness at its finest. In that case my all time list is: 1)Borchert, Ballard, Smeck, Adamson, Jorris, Micheli, Burke, Scott, Gindelsburger and Rocco.  ;D Anyone I forgot is #2. On the Ballard/Rowan note - I just watched the highlights of that game on youtube yesterday and they had the screenshot of Rowans Oline size (6'4 295) compared to Mounts Dline (average like 6' and 58 pounds lighter). Ballard has said in the past that Rowen was better than Mount but LK got more out his players than  8-) did.

A tough call is who was the best one year starter at Mount? Gindlesberger, Rocco, or Scott?  I would have to pick Scott because he won the Title, but Gindlesberger  got the win over Dayton, which LK counts as one of his very best victories ever. Mount Union was way over matched in that game, and it was at Dayton. That game is yet another example of LK winning a game no one gave him a chance to win with superior coaching and leadership.

You ask interesting questions. I hope it's ok to join in.
I see you give credit for a victory over a tough Dayton team. Do you consider the strength of the teams Scott had to beat?

This is getting oddly specific.

Ok, I've got one.  Who had the best 2nd quarter...in a road game but not any road game- only in-state road games with afternoon kickoffs (night games don't count)?

Easy - Gary Smeck, 1999, at JCU in "The Game"

I do and I don't. Scott didn't beat any teams (just a sticking point when people say "he beat them" in a team sport) - but played well against some really good ones (UST, UWW, Wesley, JCU, ONU - playoff team people regardless of any counter arguments). BUT - Scott led them to a title so he is in the argument. Gindlesberger didn't lead them to a title so he isn't in the all time debate - but Dayton was a huge win and he gets a nod for that.

Really Wally-Wabash...that is easy. It was Gary Smeck at John Carroll University in the 1999 Game of the Century. Everybody knows that was the most significant second quarter effort by a Mount Union QB.

purple

But for shear grit and great play after great play Wally-Wabash, it might be Gary Smeck's second quarter against Augustana in the 1999 playoff game, which Mount Union won against a great Auggie team that just ran the triple option down our throats that day, dominated time of possession, and kept the potent Raider offense off the field.

Autistic?  Can't say, but I'm an engineer which brings an unhealthy amount OCD into the equation as well.  What does that make me besides a touch crazy?

Which probably explains why I had to leave town to find a woman naive enough to marry me.   All the ones that knew me for any length of time were smart enough to run!
I find easily offended people rather offensive!
