Seeing Nemeth out of uniform, I would have a hard time believing he was 195 pounds.

The D3 preseason rankings show Mount Union much respect.  With the questions to be answered on the field, I don't know if they will end up in the Stagg, let alone win it.
Obviously I hope for the best, but this is a major reloading year and the coaching staff has their work cut out for them.

I think Ohio northern along with Baldwin Wallace and JCU will be decent tests as one of them will likely make the playoffs. JCU plays Oshkosh first game of the year I think. Should be a good test to see where they are..

I will consider ONU and BW decent tests for Mount when they provide one. Heard a lot about BW going into last years game (specifically the QB) and a few other years only to see the game over by halftime if not before. ONU could be a decent test if they answer some of the issues they have - specifically at QB and on D. I know Mount has a major rebuild this season but I remember another major rebuild....and then came a kid named Smeck. It worked out ok.

I respect BW and ONU but at some point the second tier of the OAC has to provide a challenge - hell they gotta play tough. Both of these teams have talent, no denying it, but for some reason it disappears during Mount week. And before the haters chime in - Mount has won 21 straight against BW, 10 straight against ONU (and before the 2005 loss they had won 20+ straight), and 27 straight against JCU. Many of these have not been close. I can't consider them tests until they actually provide a test. JCU provided 2 really good tests 2 years ago. Aside from that I haven't seen much from Tier 2.

Let's hope this rebuild is more 1998 and less "2013 minus Burke".

+K on that one. For me the issue is RB and QB. The defense has re-loaded before and while losing Spencer, Lally, Jones, Gonnell, etc is huge. The backups got a ton of playing time against 1st team units and played really well. The offense didn't seem as explosive with BJ at RB. Nemeth was the explosion they needed. So having BJ and Jamal at RB doesn't get me going. Both are lightening quick but lacked vision with the ball inside. Scott, in my opinion, was better than Burke. He was Burke in his Soph and Junior years - unafraid to run and once he made the decision to go, he went. KB stopped doing that. The backups - I just don't know enough about their skill set. If they are pocket passers and not a threat to run (a legit threat) then it will force the O-line to retool as well. Maybe others have seen the QBs and know a bit more.

The problem with any of the QB's is unless someone has seen them in JV games there just isn't much to go on as far as throwing the ball.  Even when they got in they were mainly handing it off and maybe throwing a couple short passes.  Lowry is definitely the best runner of them from what I've seen.  He reminded me of Bruney in that regard.

I wonder if LK has been/will be even more involved with the QB's this year.  If there was ever a season to tap into that mind this may be it.

I was reading the MIAC board and they are having a discussion about "bounce back transfers" (i.e. kids coming to DIII - UST in this case - from DII, DI, etc). I commented that when this happens at Mount and UWW (and even when it doesn't) they get accused of winning by raiding (no pun intended) DI and DII rosters. However, at UST they are "bounce back" transfers. Any thoughts?

And I countered on that board ... and apparently have to repeat it here since you posted it twice ... I've never said anything of the sort about Mount Union or UWW. You're talking about two sets of people saying two separate things about two (three) separate schools.

Louis Berry was also getting time at WR by the playoffs in 5 wide sets.

I would've made the incoming freshmen list, but I thought someone else said that they were making a word document with all of them already.

I'm curious where you found that height/weight for Nemeth?  He was listed at 5'10" 195 on the 2015 roster.

My concern with the RB's (and with all of the skill positions really) is that I just don't know how much they'll be pushed before the playoffs.  I think JCU will be a solid test, but outside of that?  My hopes aren't overly high for the OAC again this year.

Googled it and didn't notice it was from the 2013-14 Roster.  His Sophomore year.  Good Catch!  5' 10" 195 from his Senior Roster

Pat, I don't see where desertraider indicated YOU accused MTU of raiding DI and DII rosters. Why did you find the need to defend yourself?  Just asking.

I've actually felt that this happens more at other places than at MTU (Rowan in the past and UST come to mind).

MTU has has a few (DB from South Dakota, Matt Campbell, and Larry Kinnard (never played at OSU but is was a possibility)), but overall mostly been kids who started at D3 and finished at D3.

I brought it up because he equated my wording with the other conversations, and I wanted to make it completely clear that those should not be combined since they were not said by the same person.

You are grabbing at straws, Pat. The only one stating and implying here is you. Let it go. Seriously. Just let it go.

To be fair, this all started when Pat was asked to comment on a discussion around a UST transfer and he indicated he had just spoken with Coach Caruso and it would be in the ATN podcast. Pat used the words "bounceback" transfers in his post.

DesertRaider then posted his comments and used Pat's "bounceback transfer" phrase in the same sentence as "..they get accused of winning by raiding". I don't think it's implying anything for Pat to clarify his comments based on the sequence of posts. DesertRaider's post also then concludes with an invitation for replies (thoughts?).

No worries.  Just didn't know where Pat was coming from.  I didn't venture to the other board to know what was going on.
