I looked at the calendar and realized it was time for this posting:

Their coronation was oh so brief.  My buddy 02 Warhawk's reign as 2015 regular season OAC Pick-Em champ, and my daughter, Purple Panda's position as 2015 post season OAC champ, are now nearly-forgotten folklore.  It is time for new champions to be crowned.

Ric and Mark -- crossing heart -- are still retired and I wish them well.  But the rest of us have less than two weeks to get ready for the season.

Open you wallets, cheapskates ... $12 for the D3 Kickoff ... and get yourself ready for the 2016 season.  I'll have spreads out next week.

Football is back!  Huzzah!
Never underestimate the stimulation of eccentricity.

Kickoff is once again awesome.  Some of the writers though...I just don't know about.   ;D

I will continue to pick my way through the features for the next week.  Another great effort by D3football.com!

I was surprised to see four NCAC teams ranked lower than the lowest OAC team.  Gheny, Kenyon, Oberlin and Wooster were all ranked below Wilm.  What the heck is up with Wooster?  Not that they were great before, but worse than Wilm and Etta?

This was an interesting discussion this year, where to put Wilmington, since they did win a game last year.

Plus on top of that they actually had a chance to tie BW late in the 4th.  That's almost unprecedented!

I was happy to see Adam Marino in that induction announcement as well.  Even with WR's going to the NFL Marino is definitely still on the Mount Rushmore of Mount WR.  He wasn't a freak athlete at the D3 level like a Shorts or Garçon.  He was just the best.  Very good athlete, great hands and arguably the best route runner Mount has had.  His knack for selling the double move and getting behind defenders was amazing.
I've been on 'medical leave' for several years, recently looking in. Couldn't believe Adam Marino was not in the MUC HOF. Took quite a bit of research to convince me that he was not in - until now!
He is on my MUC Rushmore!

Don't worry Sherburne!  By M Club rules he's a first ballot Hall of Famer.  You aren't eligible until 15 yrs after graduating and Marino is an '01 grad.

He also has to be nominated by another M Club member.  If you are a member of the M Club, don't sit back and wait for someone else to nominate your favorite athletes.  Oh, and don't forget to make an M Club donation.

I just wanted to mention that according to Kickoff Cap had 74 kids report.  Not great, but certainly not terrible either.

Also, I was taking a look at Hansen's updated stuff for the OAC.  His system isn't very fond of Ott and I can't say that I disagree.  I still think JCU will end up being the #2 team thanks largely to their defense.  After that?  Not much would surprise me once you get into the ONU/BW/Berg section.

Yes, the bottom one is the one that caught my eye.  Jack Rafferty isn't walking through that door...

Kickoff = the best 12 bucks you'll ever spend, if you love D3 football.

After initially scanning some capsules, I wonder if KC Keeler isn't coaching at St. Thomas...

Also, notice how quickly a program can fall looking at Rowan, Wisconsin LaCrosse, and others.  Gives me new appreciation for Mount, Whitewater, Linfield, and others who consistently stay on or near the very top.

Thanks Pat and crew for another great read.

Don't you then have to wonder if he's also coaching at St. John's? They also have transfers.

I think that many kids are figuring out just how good and how much D3 football has to offer.  I haven't paid much attention over the years, however, it seems that D3 incoming transfers are really increasing.  Maybe I have just not noticed before.
Would be nice to see some statistics, if they exist, on any patterns or increases in kids moving down.

I hope we can find a live stream of St Thomas vs St. Johns on Sept, 24.  It should be a classic.

Scrimmage at W&J tomorrow morning.  Too bad it's not in Alliance since this is definitely a year where seeing the scrimmage would be very interesting.
