I think Mount will start the QB they think can take them all the way. If its Poorman, Peyakov , Fulford or a 6'4 300LB O-lineman. If VK thinks that will get back to Salem then that is who will start.

and the Captain Obvious Award goes to........

I was going to say that desertraider should be a politician with comments like that!

Reading the game notes and they conveniently left the 2 deep out.  Sneaky!  It did say in there that a starting QB won't be named until Saturday and that Peyakov, Lowry, Poorman, Fulford and Davis are all still in the mix to start.

OH! And I am Captain obvious? ;D So - just to sum up - starting QB won't be named until Saturday and EVERYONE is still in the mix?  ;D

BTW: No talk at all about the game this weekend from the opponents side of the fence. I don't wanna troll for commentary but....where's all the trash talking Raider fans when ya need em'?

Let me try it this way.   I'm assuming the senior will take the 1st snap of game 1.   This makes sense if the competition is close because you want to keep him engaged and the rest of the team, i.e. his buddies, upbeat too coming out of camp.

However the goal is not to find the QB that is the best on Saturday but the one that will be the best by the end of the year.   Especially when you're opening against the Sisters of the Poor.  Albeit they're experienced sisters.

If the senior isn't head and shoulders better in camp over the young guys, especially the freshmen, there is little hope that he's going to improve more over this season than a young guy will.   If Peyakov wants the job, he better light it up early ala Mike Jorris against JCU years ago when he won the competition over Mason without Mason ever getting a chance to play.

Though I doubt this happens in 2016 because the Jorris/Mason debate was between 2 guys that had been in the program for a while.   Not a senior vs a freshman.

My bet is Peyakov officially starts game 1, but isn't the starter by late-season.

We could also see a situation like Jorris/MichelI where the senior is officially the starter of each game but isn't the #1 QB.   The senior starts but doesn't see the field in crunch time.   For those old enough to remember think road game at ONU when Mount need 1 drive to win the game.   Jorris was on the bench and a young Greg Micheli was under center.   We potentially could have the same thing this season too.
I find easily offended people rather offensive!

Statistics are like bikinis; what they reveal is interesting, what they hide is essential.

I don't think it's very kind to call Lenny Reich "Captain Obvious"!  He does a great job.   ;D

And for the record, are you requesting a purplesuit sighting??

The thing I have not seen mentioned, unless I missed it, is that LK is the QB coach/tutor and my guess is that he will have a great deal of input as to who will be the best QB in the long run.  Starting this week is irrelevant.  I agree with HS Coach in that the senior must be far superior to the frosh or the frosh will be running the show by game three.

gizzmo13

good to see a Massillon kid starting. First since BJ Payne? Danny Robison will be a big time player. kid is everywhere the ball is. driskill like...

pradierguy

My prediction is Poorman throws for 300 & 4 TDs and ends the QB debate before they leave North Carolina.

I'm with you.  Suit's posts are entertaining.  Hopefully he's back in action this weekend.

If any of the Raider posters will be in Rocky Mount for Saturday, let me know...
I'll be happy to stop by & say hello...Looking forward to see
first hand the 2016 edition of the program

Peyakov =  Kurt Rocco. Classic pocket passer who only runs to extend plays. Not gonna be real good in the option game. Smart enough to trust with the ball. Might suffer more big hits though. I believe VK will choose whomever suits the talents of the 10 other players on offense best. Revamp or reload the offense? That is the big question considering Peyakov graduates and you have to adapt the Offense next year all over again. I hope they all get to showcase their talents this year.

As I stated earlier NCWs QB is a sophomore that throws picks when pressured. Got any ideas what the game plan might be? ;D The DBs had problems in 1 on1 coverage. HMMMM! I see lots of Offensive opportunities for UMU. Lets play the who;e traveling squad!

NCWs coach is a former OAC coach so he will know how to prepare his team. I still think it will be UMU with a 28 point margin.
