From Article in the Alliance Review:

QuoteThe Purple Raiders were well over the 500 yard mark in the fourth quarter but started taking a knee with just under six minutes left in the game to avoid scoring any additional points.

Ouch

JV beat Ashland yesterday 35-14.  An argument could be made that the JV had the tougher opponent this past weekend.  D2 Ashland JV may have been bigger on the line than Wilmington.

Out of curiosity, can you share who has been looking good for the JV?  I assume Reid and Taitt are taking the snaps?  I saw a couple WR that looked good in the past, but without numbers on the freshmen roster you can't tell who they are!

It's not just you.  These guys change numbers so often on Sundays that unless you've met them personally (I have not), it's hard to tell who is who.  By position group, the WRs may be the deepest.  5-6 guys have put up big receiving numbers so far, and most of the offensive production has come through the air.  D-Line/Linebackers appear to be two-deep within the JV, and both groups have been effective all season.  In two games against Ashland, the defensive front dominated.

Taitt and Reid split snaps for the JV.  Taitt has been practicing with the varsity the past two weeks, but hasn't had an opportunity on Saturday yet.  That could change now that the JV schedule is winding down.

I know Mount JV beat Ashland twice this year. Any idea what the series record is? The Mount website doesn't keep JV scores let alone a history. I have it at 11-3 now. But I could be wrong.

I'm not sure I've ever seen anything in these forums as far in the weeds in the weeds than a sincere request for a JV series record.  I don't know if I'm horrified or impressed.

I remember a few years back hearing about how Ashland brought some Varsity backups down to play Mount JV to ensure a victory.

I actually went to that game. It was at Ashland, which I drive past on my way to my parents house. One of the Ashland faithful commented that they "had a bunch" of varsity backups. That was after they had lost the first 5 (I think) to Mount.

If it is my choice - I choose impressed  8-). It is only in regard to Ashland. I know its JV - but it is still DII against DIII (i.e. how the young DII recruits of instate and down the road Ashland, compare to the young DIII recruits at Mount). Plus - I have an axe to grind against all  things Lee Owens  ;D.

Saw the JV game yesterday.  Both quarterbacks looked good but Reid was maybe +1.  Missed some throws but extended plays with his feet a few times, like Davis has been doing. O line struggled in the second half a little and gave up some sacks but they seem to collect themselves and get the job done. As for receivers,  Kra and Herrington both had good days catching the ball, with the later getting alot of targets and making people miss after the catch. Ashland was grabbing jerseys in the second half as they were getting beaten badly on routes. On defense I thought the entire D line played well, really stuffing the run all day long.  Callahan continues to impress me.  Nose for the ball and plays like Robinson and Charlie Dear, always in the middle of the play. Watched the first Ashland game on Youtube and this game yesterday was more of a domination in all phases. Although they had a lot of size, other than one of their receivers who had a nice day, they basically couldn't muster much of anything.

Sadly back in the day you never even had to request it...the game-by-game JV scores for each season were readily available on Ric's website!

We interrupt this Ashland JV report for BREAKING NEWS:  After a brief stay in Green Bay and an even briefer stay in New Orleans, Joe Callahan is now a . . . Cleveland Brown.

Keep that health insurance paid up, Joe!

Oh dear lord.  I'm so sorry, Joe!

A lot of JV talk on the OAC board. Somewhere in there it has to be a function of Mount winning conference games by an average of 43 points per game. And that number is probably below the norm. Boredom can create some interesting paths.
