Davis looked very good IMO and opened up the run game when they needed it. He made many good decisions and tight throws under some pressure in and out of the pocket. I like the way this offense is going. Our WRs were getting open nicely as well. Ruth, Hill and Herrington each made some great catches. I'm still not sure that Friss even caught that ball that they called a fumble (anyone else notice or did I imagine that?). Hill made some great catches, but you HAVE to secure the ball when you're inside the 5.

Defense looked solid once again. Many of us keep worrying bc we don't have the constant sacks and qb pressures that we've been fortunate to get in recent years, but once again they pitched a shutout. No forced turnovers this time, but just solid defense. I like the way they're playing heading into JCU week.

I agree ... Didn't look as though he had it long enough to be considered a catch.

Well that's more like it.  Nearly every player in the OAC Pick-Em received over half of the possible points; ten folks in double-digits.  Usee aced all of the OAC games on his way to a 13 score to take honors in this penultimate week.

So, with one week to go in the regular season, reality check's lead has been reduced to 2 points.  Will he be able to hold on for his first championship since 2009?

Spreads for week #11 come out Monday night.

NOPE.  Just like when Lucy pulls the football away as Charlie Brown goes to kick it.

Hey Mount guys, what is the early word on this weeks game now that the preseason is over? :D

HScoach

JCU will be a really good pre-playoff tune up.   Should be the only game in the regular season against a team actually capable of making it a 4 quarter contest.

Mount 31
JCU 21

Crunching some numbers on JCU.  I took a quick look at the last month to get a temperature on how they're progressing.

Moeglin has played well at QB.  Over his last 4 games he has 811 yds, 8 TD, 2 INT.  He's completing 66.1% during that span.

The guy that has emerged is Golphin.  He's rushed for 377 yds and 5 scores on an excellent 6.6 ypc over the last month.  He and Kukura are a nice 1-2 punch.

The odd thing I noticed was Howell.  His numbers were far lower than I expected.  He only has 89 yds receiving total in the last month.  And only 7.4 yds/rec as well.

It looks like Moeglin spreads the ball around including to the RB's.  That and JCU's D are my biggest worries.  I don't know how much JCU stretches the field vertically, but they're balanced so they can adjust as needed.  It'll be a good test for Mount on both sides of the ball.  It will be a great test for the QB's though.  They haven't seen anyone with JCU's talent on the defensive side of the ball yet.

I am used to "Mount hasn't seen a tems like this" coming from other teams fans...but from a Mount guy? Hmm, interesting twist.

I am not sure about this game. The last 2 really good tests that came from JCU, Mount overcame with Burke being Burke. However, I don't see Burke (by that I mean a guy on offense who can carry the team and dominate - Burke, Kmic, Moore, Micheli, etc..). Mount is balanced - they have solid talent everywhere - but they don't have a game changer (IMHO). I like Davis and his crew if WR, and I like BJ and the slate of RBs, but I have yet to see that next level guy. That makes me worried a bit about this one. JCUs D is the best Mount has faced and BJ doesn't do well against these types of teams (meaning he doesn't put up great numbers). On the D...I am still unsure about the DBs. Mounts D line has to get pressure consistently and quickly for to take pressure off of them. And the LBs have to play smart - too much speed and the middle screen type plays will hurt.

Umm...have you been watching their OAC games?!  The rest of the OAC stinks.  They haven't seen anything like JCU yet.  Not saying this is a great JCU team.  I'm just saying by comparison they're a clear step up.

AGAIN - it wasn't meant to be taken literally. We always mock the "mount hasn't...oh whats the point.

Did anyone see the Mount JV game yesterday?  They were playing a prep team from NC that was supposed to have some pretty good talent.

In case you haven't heard, the first rule of Mount Union JV football is that you don't talk about Mount Union JV football.
