With Mount losing last week, the real question is if we'll get to see some of the old school "you haven't seen a ........ like ours" lines.

time marches on, and still no "you haven't seen a ........ like ours" lines from Hobart (or MUC for that matter . Hobart did see MUC and Kmic in 2008. Quite a sane buildup.

Despite the 2-deep that was posted and linked I do not see Jordan Hargrove on the travel roster. Mount is taking 3 QBs: Davis, Fulford and Poorman. They are also taking: Ruth, Kennedy, Friss, Hill, Haynes and Herrington.

On the RBs I see: BJ, Evans-Morris, Aaron and Nero (may be others but those were the ones I was looking for).

I wonder if Hargrove is injured or if he just hasn't played in so long that it was seen as a chemistry issue since Hill and Haynes have had more work with Davis.

I'm not familiar with a 'travel roster'. That said, after several games had gone by the board, I start a spreadsheet to track 2-deeps (from game previews)> Hargrove does appear in 'my' 2-deep for the Hobart game.

I wonder if there are limits (or not) on changing 2-deeps? Probably not, just the dynamics of evaluating personnel needs as time goes by. Interesting observation.
I'd lke to compare the 'preview' 2-deep vs the travel roster.

Well a 'travel roster' is what gets emailed to faculty to excuse students from classes for a road game. So, like I was saying...despite the two deep...yada yada yada. And, no,  I will not post the email.

As far as 'visitor locker room' - good one. Guess Mount could ask "Have you ever seen the locker rooms at the Stagg Bowl"? LOL! (BTW: +k - it was a good one)

I think ESPN's Stagg Bowl crews are generally pretty good (yes, even Pam Ward).  It's pretty unfair to judge them too harshly given that they can't possibly be as familiar with the subject material as we are.  If I've got any criticism of the ESPN Stagg Bowl broadscasts, it's only that they have a tendency to grab one or two story lines and beat them into the ground over the course of the game.  They went wild with Jordan Roberts's story (did you know he played against NDSU?!?!?) last year and it got to be a bit much.  But generally they're fine.

Wally - you are spot on about 99% of the time (nobody is perfect...well except perhaps the "Guru" ) but we are going to have to agree to disagree on Pam. She re-introduced me to the mute button and was the reason for listening to the radio broadcast while watching the game (even with the 3-5 second delay - it was better).

The story line I get tired of hearing about during the Stagg Bowl is (drumroll) - "in Division III there are no scholarships like in Divisions I and II....yada yada yada". Yes - it is true, but for god's sake when you say it every 30 seconds. ('Nemeth breaks a tackle and rambles for 26 yards - did you know in Division III they don't have scholarships like in Divisions I and II?') Oy. BTW: did you know Jordan Roberts wants to be a priest? Hmmm - I heard that somewhere

BTW/BTW: Not a knock on Jordan Roberts! Kids awesome. However, a knock on ESPN and their unwillingness to simply call the game like they would call an Alabama or OSU game. It feels like they are sort of 'patting DIII on the head' during the game (way to go young fellas - you're special!).

While that is true for a lot of programs, when you get to the top rungs of DIII, the players a lot of times, have the talent of DI players (maybe not your Alabama talent) but may be just a little smaller than those at the top level.

Just double checked the email and Hargrove and Choate are not on it. I know some have wondered if Choate would get some playoff runs due to his JV stats and youth - but it does not appear that way.

A good example is When Wesley (when they had Joe Callahan) beat an FCS school a few years ago. The size difference was very evident, but size does not equal talent.

Also just realizing that recruiting is such an imprecise science at all levels, there are plenty of d3 guys who could  be on scholarship at a bigger program, and plenty of mediocre d1 scholarship guys who probably would not be standouts in d3 . It's just so hard to predict how a high school kid will adapt to college football.

This Hobart announcer is atrocious!

He's short of the marker on 3rd down.

Reality: As his monotone color guy pointed out, the linesman was marking it a full yd past the 1st down marker.

He gest stuffed on first down, maybe got a couple yards.

Reality: Mount RB gained 4 yds to set up 2nd and 6

I don't think any Hobart players made contact in the neutral zone

Reality: The flag was for a false start by the Mount WR, who obviously jumped.

Hobart almost had them stopped on the 3rd down screen.

Reality: They gave up a 3rd and 15 in an obvious screen situation and then gave up a 50 yd TD. Almost only counts in horse shoes and hand grenades.

Hobart corner comes up and puts a lick on him.

Reality: Mount RB put a nasty stiff arm on the guy in the flat, knocked him down and fell forward for another 3 yds.

The guy is articulate and has a good rhythm, but he's a brutal homer and seems to be watching a different game.
