What a fun day at Fox & Hound!  About 20 of us, and to state the obvious the games were tense & fun to watch.  Of course that's easy to say when Mount & OSU win.  Hats off to the manager at the Belden Fox & Hound who took such good care of us.

Mount's D really stepped up in the 2nd half.  Great adjustments, and I thought the offense did "just enough".  Should be a good game next week, and here's hoping Mount can just keep finding a way.

JCU in ot! How sad that its a playoff game and the empty seats outnumber the filled seats 10 to 1. It looked like the same wAs true at the UMU game.

It's like that everywhere on Thanksgiving weekend, honestly.

In D3.  Not in Columbus today where they set an all-time attendance record for Ohio Stadium (and which will probably never be bettered since they're removing some seats in the off-season).

Indeed, Pat is right.  It is weird, though (and a little disappointing), to see the likes of 950 die-hard fans in a 10,000 seat stadium (Perkins). :(  Also, like it was a couple of years ago when Kalamazoo College was playing their home games in Western Michigan's ~30,000 seat Waldo Stadium with only 800 or less fans attending, while stadium renovations were going on at their historic Angell Field stadium.  But...Mr. Ypsi is happy[ier] I'm sure, that his Eastern Michigan, in addition to being bowl eligible and going to some bowl somewhere, actually [truly] qualified for staying in FBS (for at least another 3 years) by having well more than the NCAA required overall average of 15,000 fans per home game this year! ;D (they had ranges from 16,000+ to 19,000 to >20,000).  At least these are actual counts this time, Mr. Ypsi?!!!

Johns Hopkins was 8 for 10 on third down conversions in the first half......2 for 12 in the second half.  Mount D really stepped it up.  The Mount Union coaching staff continues to get the max out of this team.  Perhaps Alfred will beat them next week, but I would not bet the ranch.
Regardless of future outcomes, this team has grown and achieved beyond their experience.  It has been fun to watch them get better each week.

Especially so in Ohio when the D3 games are up against OSU/Michigan.    They're fortunate to get anyone there that isn't related.
I find easily offended people rather offensive!

Statistics are like bikinis; what they reveal is interesting, what they hide is essential.

Congrats on the win to MUC today (and JCU though I had no bearing on that game other than to know this wasn't a typical Wesley team of the last 6-8yrs).  I just checked in on scored but when I saw 21-7 JHU into the 2nd quarter I thought this was it for Mt Union.  Impressive that you basically shut JHU I out for the last 2.5 quarters.  Other than they got out to the faster start doesn't seem like they did any more than Hobart which is surprising as I had Bart pegged as a 20-25 type team and JHU pegged as 10-15.  The D3 folks hang from the jockstrap of the E8 like its 1b to the WIAC but pretty sure the league is more like the LL this year (overrated bc a couple to teams won OOC games like against ONU which actually were worth far less than ascribed at the time and will look to create excuses to fit their narrative As it pertains to their complete beat down in the ECAC games agains good but not great opposition) in reality and that beating JHU was your real test before the semifinals.  Alfred is some of the most low key, businesslike, classy people so hard to knock but I really think the league and they're stature is pretty massively overrated at this point but we will find out next sat.

I went to the Hopkins game and was pleasantly surprised by the size of the crowd.  As mentioned, Thanksgiving weekend-most of the students are gone.  Hopkins plays lacrosse at the highest level (DIV1?) so most of the students and alumni are primarily lacrosse fans - the other sports are an afterthought.  Hopkins doesn't charge admission for football during the regular season, so I would guess most of the locals who would come to watch for free during the regular season are not going to pay $8 for a playoff game.    But, it was a good atmosphere in a nice stadium and I enjoyed the game.  The people who didn't go missed a good game.

Now CB, you know that is not always true.  ;)  Despite how great Mount has been in past years, their home playoff attendance has not been overly tremendous-at least not as much as some of us would expect it to be.

As someone who attends the Thanksgiving weekend game I can tell you that's not true.  It was maybe 25% full last yr.  I'd guess maybe 1000 people?  And the years prior haven't been much better.  Never even half full.  Definitely nothing I'd call a good crowd for a playoff game.

When the students are gone for holiday break I admit they are gone and only the town folks show up and probably only enough show up to maybe break 1000.

Well, since this is ... what's it called again? D3boards.com? I figured that was obvious.

Says the guy who just compared themselves to Wesley even though their school misses the playoffs as much as they participate in the last 6-8yrs.

I'm good.  My team played a game that mattered last week.

Can do an analysis of the stats or actually have watched the games.  This was the worst Hobart team since 2010 and was out of the D3 rankings as recently as week 8 of the regular season and MUc had every bit as tough of a game as they did today.  The CC is overrated and JHU is a fine program who's done yeomans work in their league but isn't inside the top ten.  Interestingly for MUc they beat two straight schools that have DI sports programs in lacrosse on fields that each have over 100yrs of history and collectively something like 20-25 lacrosse titles (Hobart won the first 12 D3 Lax titles and 13-14 befor moving up as well as a couple of D2 titles in the 70s and JHU has, I believe, 10+ Lax titles as well).

boobyhasgameyo

You mean says the guy who pointed out a simple fact that like Wesley, Fisher has only lost to the purple powers in the playoffs in the past decade?  It's not like that's subjective analysis there PA.  Hobart had a couple of chances to make that fact invalid, but they lost to Fisher both times.  Whoops.

Best of luck figuring out how to use the quotes on the message boards properly though!  The good news is, like Fisher, your season is over so you'll have plenty of time to figure it out.  And grumble about how overrated the E8 is.
