When UMHB flew to UMU in 2012  for that  semifinal game, they flew a charter flight out of  the Killeen/Fort Hood airport(20-25 minutes from  Belton), and landed at the Akron/Canton airport. A similar direct charter flight from Killeen  to Madison was done in 2007 when UMHB went to UWW for that semifinal.

I think all "flights" that the NCAA pays for are such charters, so the busing from airports is therefore  pretty minimal.

I cannot wait until tomorrow!!

I am a noted travel snob (won't fly Southwest or JetBlue, at all), so take this with a grain of salt; looks like the NCAA was able to spring for a couple extra flights this year because they are using Sun Country.

Um..I can.

Look Mount loses a game every now and then and that's fine. I don't hate it when they lose (granted I don't like it either)- it's the 'is this the end of the dynasty' bit. It's like 'oh you won 112 straight regular season games, 24 straight OAC titles, 12 National Championships...but you lost a game and its all over bit. The guy at the store in the jcu jacket "Refs didn't win it for ya this year, did they?" Terry Pluto did a piece on the Mount/jcu game. Love Terry - does  a great job and has for years covering Mount - but the tone was that with the win jcu was now Mount's rival/equal. jcu did a great job, deserved to win - and it may turn into a great rivalry - BUT jcu has still won 1 game in the last 28 against Mount and the series is Mount 31, jcu 2 and 2 ties. Oh well just my Friday rant.

Agreed... I still believe Mount is Mount. And not that I want to turn this to John Carroll, but to say "Refs didn't win it for ya this year" really takes away from the job that John Carroll did.

I see the same guy at the same store within a few days after the Mount/jcu game. He is like mid-80s.
- 2 years ago after "clock-gate" (my term) he cut into line, taps me on the shoulder and yells "you got away with one yesterday. Refs gave it to you!".
- After the playoff loss that year, same guy, same store "you must be paying those Refs alot of money" and then he just stared at me while I checked out and left.
- Last year - I saw him first (ironically at a different store) and I said "Refs couldn't help you this time even if they wanted to" and he just walked away.

And then this year. I have decided that A) I need to shop at other stores and B) He really needs a new jacket, his is a bit worn. Oh well we all have our share of "those fans".

Good luck to the OAC this weekend - an all-OAC Stagg would be...well worth the trip to Salem!

Has a regional player of the year ever been dumped on as thoroughly as Bradley Mitchell has been?  I'm blown away by the commentary here this week.

Probably not. BJ is a really good RB - but his bar for comparison isn't former Regional POY, it's: Kmic, Moore, Pugh and Nemeth. All great players that played better when the game got bigger and the competition got tougher. BJ has a history, as has been said, of looking great against average teams - and below average against good ones. The Alfred game actually surprised me. I did not expect him to put up that many yards, especially given what was said about the Alfred defense (granted by Alfred fans). BJs performance didn't make me question the doubts about his performance in big games - it made me question if Alfred's run defense was any good to begin with.

Who's the individual offensive talent in the North Region that should have been selected ahead of him?

Broc Rutter, QB, North Central. I was actually quite surprised he wasn't 1st team QB and POY in the North. But Matt Hunt has some rush yards that make him a different weapon than Broc Rutter. I think the combined numbers of Matt Hunt make it a closer conversation with Rutter for 1st team QB, but honestly I would have picked either one of those two over BJ Mitchell for OPOY of the region because they both generated significantly more offense per game than Bradley and both of them led their teams to the biggest win of the year against the best defenses.

Broc Rutter:
10-0 CCIW conference champ. 230-351, 3,237 yds, 38 TD's, 5 INT, 66% completions, 175.9 efficiency, 270 yds per game; 3 rush TD's

Matt Hunt:
8-2 NCAC runner up. 249-388, 2,580 yds, 26 TD's, 8 INT, 64% completions, 138 efficiency, 258 yds per game; 148 rush, 947 yds, 10 TDs, 6.4 ypc, 95 yds per game.

Bradley Mitchell:
223 carries, 1,517 yds, 20 TD's, 6.6 ypc

I am picking JCU, I had Oshkosh in my bracket getting to the final.  I am also picking UMHB, not sure what comfortable level is but I think they are up at least 2 scores going into the 4th.

I hope they are! The last time UMHB entered the 4th against Mount up 2 touchdowns - they lost. Conversely, the last time Mount entered the 4th up 14 against UMHB - they lost.

For some reason I have 38-14 UMHB rolling around in my head.

UMHB has played 3 games this season against top 20 offenses (Linfield #7, 2x) and HSU (#19) and held them to 27, 15, and 10 pts respectively. Mount is good against the run, which helps them, but I have a hard time seeing how Mt Union is going to score more than 28 while holding the Cru to under 35.

I would like to see Mount beat UMHB under the theory of...... at least we lost to the  Stagg bowl winner.....but I am thinking the Mount defense will be severely tested the way you have tested others in prior years ..... the Mount O will have to wear magic shoes to stay in this one although I think the offense has  improved in the last 3 games....Good luck in Texas

I am a noted travel snob (won't fly Southwest or JetBlue, at all), so take this with a grain of salt; looks like the NCAA was able to spring for a couple extra flights this year because they are using Sun Country.

I thought that was a Southwest 737 before looking closer at it.

Sun Country has a significant charter business as well, so that makes sense.

Ah, I see.  I didn't know that.  Probably like Eastern.  When we charter planes now, it's for 5 people or less.

Well shake your head a bit and maybe a better picture will come up, ala Etcha Sketch.
What's w you Mounties. I hate Mt when UWW is playing you, but in a weird sort of way, I pull for you when down.  You are freaking Mt. - come on man. The game isn't just jimmys and joes. Mt has athletes. UMHB has athletes. Most of the teams they play don't have the athletes Mt has and none of them have the playoff pedigree- not even Linfield.
Look, I may end up looking like a fool during/after tomorrow's game, but I'll stick to my basics. Pedigree matters. Athletes matter. Coaching matters. UMHB has a lot of it, Mt has it in spades.
Plug into the positive morphogenic field (no idea what it means).

Indeed.  Perhaps a bit more Hiram Ulysses Grant and a tad less George Brinton McClellan is in order.
