The defense played too well to lose this game on a flukey TD.
Davis appeared to be intimidated to throw the ball the entire game. Were the receivers that well covered?
Proud of the effort by the Raider D.  They stepped it up.

UMHB rushed only 4 most of the game, dropped 7 in coverage.  Davis had lots of time to throw, but appears WRs weren't getting separation.

Defense played lights out.  Fluke Jump Ball in 1st half hurt a lot.

Great game. Great effort and disciplined play by Mt.

D O.C.

Every LINFIELD guy on the board knew that Mullins fake was coming.

That was brilliant!

I thought it looked like nobody was over the WR on that play.  Looked like Mullins did that on his own.

Great play.

Dr. Acula

After watching both games I think JCU was the 2nd best team.  I think they're better than UMHB.  I was very unimpressed with the UMHB offense.

Perhaps. But the Mt coaching staff did a phenomenal job.
I hope Davis doesn't read this board. If he does- hey Dom, you played w the heart of a champion.  Your runs were critical to the Mt offense.

You do realize there's still a Stagg bowl to be played right?? It's not out of the realm of possibility that UMHB wins it all  :o

Seconded, Emma.  Great post.  The kid showed heart leading them down on that TD drive after what transpired before.  He's a winner in my book.

Congrats to UMHB. I saw the fake coming as well - but it is what it is. This team and this D have grown alot from this game and from the JCU game until this point. The D - hats off. That was a great game. These teams have played 3 times and all of them have been instant classics. Great game. Don't hang your heads - no one thought it would be this close.

On Davis - not great. Had a really bad game. If it were me I would print my stat line and put it in my locker from this day forward. But he will get better from this. I think if they were going to go away from him it would have been after the first series in the 3rd qtr. At some point you just have to say 'I have made my decision - he got us here - he will finish' (maybe).

But despite that awful passing game - 14-12. Wow. That close - for a "weak" Mount team. Safe travels and a big Thanks to Noah Hiles at WRMU calling his last game today. Had to be sad for it to end that way. It has been a pleasure listening to ya Noah. Good luck in the future-

Amen.  He did play like a freshman today, but we still were in the game until the end.

Mount's performance today kinda makes you think that maybe the east wasn't as weak as some have harped on for three weeks now.

That's a one game sample size.  I thought Mount Union's defense played a whale of a ball game today.  I also thought UMHB looked really, really tight compared to other games I've watched this year (2x Linfield, Wheaton).  Jackson in particular.  Semis against the champs will do that to some people.

That said, if they're tight again on Friday night, it's squashville for sure.

Next few years of Mount vs. JCU are going to be interesting.
I find easily offended people rather offensive!

Statistics are like bikinis; what they reveal is interesting, what they hide is essential.

We had too many weaknesses this year. To get this far was beyond my expectations. We have lots to shore up next season. With a team this inexperienced you cant bet on recruits to fix it all. I see lots of jobs up for grabs next year. Which makes us relatively inexperienced again. From what i saw today its gonna be 2 nice defenses next week but i think UMHBs team speed wins it for them.
