I find easily offended people rather offensive!

Statistics are like bikinis; what they reveal is interesting, what they hide is essential.

Onward on, John Carroll

My buddy who is a Mount fan said that when we woke up on Friday morning and went to his car to leave for work, his iPhone pinged and it said it was 5 hours, 51 minutes to Salem, VA. I'm not sure if the story is true but I laughed all day ... It sure was different not seeing y'all down there.

I thought both teams showed they deserved to be there, that being said, I thought MHB was overall better.  They blew a couple scoring chances in the red zone that UWO never had and and blew a chippie FG.
Both teams were superbly prepared and disciplined.  It is funny that someone mentioned Oshkosh controlling the ball and then MHB goes on an 8 minute 20 play drive.
All in all, I thought the final four teams all were fine teams and with a few breaks could have won it all.  I still contend that Mount overachieved and am proud of the players and coaches who grew this team as the games went on. JCU will, more than ever, be the red ink on the schedule and fans are already looking forward to the future.
Congrats to MHB. A great prize for a veteran, lifelong coach.
Oshkosh is a mirror of their coach.  No nonsense, hard playing and no excuses.  Admirable.  Are they the new king of their conference?  For how long?

Although I feel silly saying it because they didn't beat Whitewater this year, I believe we are in the middle of change of power in the WIAC.  The Oshkosh PROGRAM on display last night was very impressive.  They did very well last night, on and off the field, just didn't win on the scoreboard.

By the way, Frank's tribute to Graig Sagar was awesome.  The coat was indeed memorable.  Loved it.
I think you guys should post a picture.

A few random thoughts post-Stagg:

Both teams need an offensive coordinator.  Bad.

MHB looked like the more talented team by a good margin, but was sloppy and not overly smart.   Typical MHB.

JCU is very close to the top.   Will be interesting if they can stay there.

I agree with Pa, the Raiders way over achieved this season.   Will be interesting to see if they retake the thrown or if 2016 was the first step in the slow painful spiral in becoming Augustana.

Pretty sure there were plenty of pictures taken of him in it.  Wait to see what Larry and the d3photography crew took; I bet there are some in there.

I'll be watching the Stagg Bowl even though I wish Mount was there.  It's a great matchup of speed vs strength and power.

I think this does a disservice to both teams.  Oshkosh has plenty of fast dudes, UMHB has plenty of big dudes.  Nobody ever gets this far in this tournament without both.

I was wondering how this comment would hold as the game played out.  Sure, UWO has fast dudes- in places.  I'm sure Devon Linzenmeyer is a straight line fast dude, but he isn't a BJ Mitchell side to side fast dude, and that's the sort of fast UWO needed.  They ended up with 30 yards on 29 carries because they couldn't get outside.  UMHB definitely has both big and fast in all the right places.

Still boggles my mind that BJ only got 4 carries in the 3rd quarter last week.

30 yards rushing for the game is unbelievable.  BJ exceeded (6 carries, 34 yards) that in the last drive (3:41) of the second quarter last week.

Well, although the Stagg Bowl lacked scoring it didn't lack statistics and those side-bets shook things up a bit in the 2016 OAC Playoff Pick-EmUsee and mr_mom led the way with 21 points gleaned from the potential 25; Logan HansenRatings just two points behind.  Also of note was desertcat1 who chose nine of the ten bonus questions correctly and my buddy joelmama who somehow managed to miss them all.

BillyRayJimBob messaged me last night indicating that he regretted his picks "5 minutes into the game", and that was indeed prescient.  Vying to go wire-to-wire, he was caught at the finish line by someone who was 12 points back heading into the final week.  Sorry, BillyRay.

So, your 2016 OAC Playoff Pick-Em Champion is -- I'm embarrassed to say -- mr_mom.

I want to thank everyone for playing this year.  See you all again in nine months !!

I didn't scroll thru all 31 pages of d3photography pics, but Frank is there on p. 5.  I think he even outdid Craig Sager! :o  That jacket is AWESOMELY garish!

I played it to stay ahead of RaiderPlayByPlay vice what I thought, which would have garnered me, maybe, 6-8 more points.  I did expect more UMH-B offense and certainly fewer turnovers.
My wife asked, "What would you have won?" I told her.  She responded, "Pfftt!"  (She don't get it!)
She then asked who won.  I told her.  She said, "Rigged!"  (I didn't tell her about last year ... I did not want to further interrupt her baking.)

Raider 68

Congrats to Mary Hardin Baylor for winning the Stagg Bowl 2016.

For the Raiders, a very good season for a young team. Congrats to the Coaches and team for reaching the semifinals for the
22nd time.

In 2017, Mount returns 14 starters and another potential starter TE. IMHO, the Raiders will win the OAC, and return to
the Championship game. The program will continue to be strong again and the QB position will work itself out with the
sophomores that now have game experience. It was tough to watch the Stagg without Mount there.

Now Let's get ready for Spring 2017! :)
