Just saw on Twitter that Arth is expected to be named new HC at Chattanooga TN.

Not confirmed

Yes there is more and more reports on twitter about this.  Arth is a class act so if he does accept i expect that he won't until he has a chance to address his JCU team.

Mount Union was just so unbelievably fortunate that Larry Kehres never went elsewhere.

I'm not that familiar with sports:  Would playing Alabama, as Chattanooga did on Nov. 19, be a step up or a step down from playing Mount Union?

Just a totally different era now than when LK started.  The economics are such that D3's just aren't going to be able to keep mega-talented coaches forever.

Largely true, but there will always be SOME who simply prefer the D3 lifestyle.  They won't get filthy rich, but they will still live quite comfortably.

Great point Ypsi, VK is probably a good example of this (fingers crossed)

From what I know the closest Larry Kehres came to leaving Mount Union for a bigger school happened years ago when he was very close to taking Kent State job, but after sleeping on it called back in the morning to turn it down.  Larry made the choice to stay at Mount Union, but as a mentor to his nephew Eric Raeburn Larry encouraged Eric to early in his coaching career to move on and explore opportunities.  Erik played and coached at Mount Union before becoming head coach at Coe before moving onto Wabash then onto Savannah State.  Some speculate that when Vince was ready to explore moving on Larry stepped down.

Now there are reports on twitter that players are confirming Arth took the job.  Tom Arth is a strong and emotional leader for JCU football.  If this plays out like everyone is reporting I suspect it will be a very emotional goodbye for Tom.

Sucks to see Arth leave JCU. But even while playing under him before he became the head coach, we all knew he was going places. I wish him the best of luck, but I know he will continue his success as he works his way up the college football coaching ladder.

He was what being a Man Of Carroll is all about, and will continue to represent our school!

Wow. Huge loss for JCU. Great for Tom - outstanding Coach and a truly great guy. I hope this turns out better for JCU than Hallett leaving has for Berg.

Good luck to Coach Arth.  He did a great job preparing his team for the games against us and the Titans.

That's a big step. It's not like Chattanooga is a program in the dumps. They are very competitive outside their money game in a very good FCS conference. They played Sam Houston State tough in the second round of the playoffs this year, third straight time they've made it, and the team has OK fan support unlike some FCS schools. Good for him as he must have really impressed with the interview stage, but he's going to need to hit the ground running hard.

LOL.

But let us not forget Charles Carroll, a singee of the Declaration of Independence; and John Carroll Lynch, the barber from Gran Torino.
