Not having a coach is nerve racking for JCU fans.  I would assume we are missing out on some key recruiting time without a coach in place.  What would be a reasonable timeframe for getting a new coach?

I agree with you as I have no doubt this is nerve racking for the JCU fans.  However, they are not the first ones to endure this type of anxious waiting period (Wabash and others went through this).  I'm also sure they will survive this just fine.  We all know it is not always an easy choice such as some of the DIII schools have had the fortune of having qualified longer time assistants on their staffs that have been promoted to the head position this new off season and/or places like Minnesota and Western Michigan, which acted quickly because their obvious and top choices were "a no brainer." All that said, wouldn't you agree that most fans would prefer to go through a slightly longer process to make sure that one's school got the right man/top choice for their HC?  I know I would.   And at our level, I don't think it will hurt recruiting that bad.  Just MO.

I'm not sure what would be a reasonable time but a private school could do it much quicker than the public ones in Wisconsin.  The state mandates posting the position for a period of time before any interviews can be conducted.  Unless you're Barry Alvarez that is.

It's still January?  You'll be fine.  It's not like you're pushed up against NLI day or anything like that.

Doesn't mandate, however, that a hypothetical public institution in Wisconsin couldn't have an internal candidate already all but decided on and just jerk around half a dozen other coaches and programs for six weeks for the sake of "compliance".

Looks like the block RAIDERS on the jersey is coming back.  I'm a big fan of that little nod to tradition.

New purple jersey

I doubt they will come with that Large Font.  When you use NIKE's Uniform Builder Online that is the only way it show's up.  I bet it will be smaller like the current Black/White/Gray Jerseys.

Oh, man.  I'm back to being less excited now.  I thought we may see a return of lettering that can actually be read on a jersey.

Yes, you want to find the right coach but a month of inactivity on the recruiting trail is a bit much.  This is especially important during a period of time crucial to D3 schools - - - this is the beginning of the time when some kids with scholarship dreams finally start to realize that they may not have scholarship in their future.

I want a new coach in place soon, to be honest.  Very soon.  We were told Saturday was the day and, yet, here we are.

Spoken like a man that attended all the interviews and was privy to all decision making discussions.

Great hire.  Great match.

For the sake of the OAC as a whole this seems like very good news.  Snell did a solid job, but this is definitely an upgrade.  That BW rivalry might be heating up again!  Now THAT'S fun.

JCU, you're on the clock.  A good hire in UH and things may be pretty fun around here the next few years.

This definitely seems like a logical hire.  Like Arth, Finotti is a known commodity in NE Ohio which will keep that crucial parochial pipeline flowing to UH.  Being around Harbaugh for a couple years is a plus in my book too.  Like him or not that guy is a great coach.  You have to be able to learn a few things from a guy that is that successful.  Hilvert would have been interesting at JCU, but him at BW and Finotti at JCU ups the intrigue because we have to think BW is going to be trending up very soon.
