Per football scoop Tyler Funk is leaving Mount Union for Indiana State. I also heard at the national coaches convention that Larry Kehres is coming back to call the offense

From footballscoop.com

QuoteMount Union: Source tells FootballScoop Mount Union is promoting defensive line coach Tyler Funk to offensive line. Hear there was considerable (read: overwhelming) interest in this position.

Let's hope that "overwhelming" interest in the Mount O line job still exists if Funk is now off to Indiana St.

I'm pumped for LK to take over the offense. That is where he shined. I wouldn't think VK is as worried this time, as he may have been in his first season with LK running the offense. Our offense has a chance to take a leap, we need multiple RB to step up and the defense needs to continue to grow. I do hope that they can bring in another top quality coach to coach up the young guys and help stabilize the program for the future (although we may be a stepping stone for some to move up). I imagine Vanhavel (HS coach from Michigan) will be defensive coach with his background. Some kids are starting to "commit" and I'm trying to keep a running list and will post when there is a solid group.

As a JCU Alum, I sure would like to see the new coach release the names of his new staff.  I want to see how he is building his staff.  Anybody out there hear anything about possible assistant coaches?

I just chatted with Rick Finotti for the podcast -- we talked about staff but he's only been on the job officially since Monday so there are a lot of positions to fill. Look for the podcast Monday morning.

He left to become the oline coach at Western Kentucky.

dachampishere

Yes he left for WKU, and then Tyler Funk who was promoted to O-Line just left for a job at Indiana State

Mount Union commits I've found through Twitter:
Joe Presutti C Texas
Jordan Markowski S Fort Mills, SC
Ken Roye LB/RB Cleveland Heights, OH
Nasir Green WR Phoenixville, PA
Trace Lindeman RB Milan, MI
Haydn Tanner FS Knoxville, TN (nice player!)
Jalen Griffin CB Chicago, IL
Josh Petruccelli RB Perry, OH
Ethan Dufresne-Brown OL Olney, IL
Joey Gossett RB/FS Howell, MI
Zarek Ray DE/TE Royal Oak, MI
Darian Littlejohn WR Troy, NY
Brady Maxwell G Denver, PA
Mike Kalyan LB Schuylkill, PA (AA 1st team all state)
Nate Brunson DE Blythewood, SC

A couple of guys on the oline can maul and have a nasty streak!
A couple in the defensive backfield can run, cover and hit. I can see why Kappas tweeted about adding studs to the defense.
Running backs are ok, but it's hard to tell what kind of competition they played. All are light for now.
I'll add more as I see them coming. We usually snag a nice group after the kids realize that D1 scholarship isn't really there.

*I removed the transfers I thought were included

^^^ Thanks for the legwork!  +k

I think those last two guys are transfers from Mount to MBU.  They're on the freshmen roster.

I'm always curious when you see VK or Kappas fire off a celebratory tweet about a big commitment.  I know they can't say who, but I always want to know who they're that excited about!

Also, even in that small sample size it looks like MI may be a focus again in 2017.  Also interesting to see a couple IL kids.  Not normally a state Mount draws from.  Glad to see a couple SC kids already.  Jenkins worked out well and Rentz is going to be battling for a starting OL spot.
