I just saw a gOod article on Larry Kehres published today on Huffington Press.  It is good to see LK get some more national press.

As a JCU Alum, I sure would like to see the new coach release the names of his new staff.  I want to see how he is building his staff.  Anybody out there hear anything about possible assistant coaches?

I just chatted with Rick Finotti for the podcast -- we talked about staff but he's only been on the job officially since Monday so there are a lot of positions to fill. Look for the podcast Monday morning.

Kyle Hoke - nephew of former Michigan coach Brady Hoke - has been hired as the defensive coordinator.  He played at Ball State from 2008-2011, served as a GA at Western Michigan in 2012 before moving on to Army where he was a defensive quality control coach for a season or two.  It appears he is coming to JCU from South Carolina where he was a defensive GA last season.

I like the hire! Have we figured out the OC situation yet?

Good find...onward on!

Now we gotta find the OC.

Any chance he keeps the guy that was the OC last year that Arth left behind?

Just after making my last post I found this nugget:

http://www.news-herald.com/sports/20170213/college-football-mentor-assistant-coach-nick-alexander-joins-rick-finottis-staff-at-john-carroll

Nick Alexander is leaving the Mentor coaching staff to be the passing coordinator and quarterbacks coach at John Carroll.

I was told that is very likely but I have no confirmation.

Thanks! Definitely a young staff, which can sometimes bring it's challenges. However, Arth did well with a young staff too. Even though there isn't much experience with the coordinators, I like seeing guys who are coming from DI to get their foot in the door.

Can't wait until September 2nd, when we get our chance at redemption against Oshkosh! I know I'm making a long weekend out of it, and driving in from Chicago.

Just keep it moving the right direction, generally, and I will be pleased.

I think the coaching changes went very well for the OAC.  There was a little pressure because for the good of the entire conference you want BW and JCU to be good.  I think both did very well in making that happen going forward (or in JCU's case continuing it).

To me the scenario I hope to see in a few years is this:

Mount still being Mount.
JCU being a consistent top 10/top 15 program each year.
ONU and BW being a top 25 caliber team half the time (i.e. each year the OAC would have a top 5, top 10 and top 25 team).
Berg and Ott being scrappy.
Etta and Cap showing some progress.
And unfortunately for Musky and Wilm, I just don't see much difference.  Any improvement from them would be a bonus IMO.

This MI pipeline is flowing nicely so far this year.  Landed Ryan Westrick according to his twitter account.  6'4" 275 OT from Marshall HS who was 2x All-Conference and HM All-State.
