With only the possible exception of the fully healthy Gale Sayers, Barry Sanders was the most electrifying player ever in the NFL.  EVERY time he touched the ball it was a potential loss or a potential TD!  Had he not retired early, he would have set the yardage gained record where it would never be touched; yet (if the NFL kept such a stat) I suspect he also would have had the record for yardage lost!  He loved to go backwards looking for an opening - sometimes a 15-20 yard loss; nearly as often a TD! ;D

Anyone else going to see Karem Abdul Jabbar at Mount tonight? I don't  miss a chance to dine at Panchos" so I will probably be there around 6:00. ;D

D2, not D3, but the kid's from Ashland and Ashland plays Mount Union in jayvee football and it's kinda slow around here, so . . .

Wow somebody wrestled the Stagg Bowl from Salem! Ive been to 5 Stsggs and ive sat in every weather possible for the game. Loved it. The Salem folks were grand hosts. When it swings north to Cantpn nobody is gonna have to worry ifwe can handle it. Ask the Hall of Fame if we can! Still im gonna miss Salem

Dr. Acula

For those of us in Ohio having the Stagg Bowl in Canton is certainly convenient, but I just don't understand why they'd want to play the game in that weather.  Not that Salem is Key West, but Canton in December is almost certainly going to be cold and snowy.  It's one thing when it's the higher seed hosting.  That can't be helped.  But choosing Canton as a neutral site I'm not in love with other than because of my own laziness.  I'm sure the new Tom Benson HOF stadium will be by far the best facility though so that is probably the biggest factor in the choice.

December in  Canton is rarely extreme weather anymore. You cant count on snow in January either. As far as an advantage for Mount goes, they dont play there and that field holds no plus for them other than they could sleep in the day of the game. It will be a trip to remember for whoever qualifies. Mount will be there if only as spectators for sure. I predict Canton will host for a shorter term than Salem did. Tv coverage will be better there for sure.

Let us hope Mount Union - and other local schools - are worthy successors to Stone Station, regardless of team advancement to the game itself.

I'm pretty sure they will be.

Currently down in NC for work, but I had to at least post a quick WOW!  I floated this to the appropriate Stark County & Canton CVB's years ago (I posted such here but can't remember how long ago it was).  The fact that this came to fruition amazes me, but I am not totally surprised.  Canton, Stark County, and the NFL have/are investing a ton of money into that facility.  They are aggressively pursuing any & all events/activities.

Hmmmm....so since I started this many moons ago, does this mean it will become the Skunk & Skunks_sidekick Stagg Bowl?????  (Gotta call my agent)

Maybe Stone Station can do the concession stands! How about a concert too! Who would play a gig in December? Show em how we party in Ohio. Maybe Macy Gray will get a do over on the National Anthem too.

This has been a night game for a while now, right?

Indeed it has. When it was earlier in the day I thought it enhanced the tailgate/ reunion experience and contributed to an overall more enjoyabe day. I understand that TV has its own schedule to keep too. Why did Salem give up the Bball tourney also? Somethings fishy here. Unpaid bills?  Loss of local control? Undesirables to contend with? Economics?  Inquiring minds want to know.
