Question for the group. I have never ordered Kickoff, even though every year I saw that I am going to; is it worth the purchase? I understand it's not that expensive anyway, but even if it were free, is it a good read?

I appreciate all feedback!

It is absolutely worth it!!! In addition to the information, it supports the site.

You should definitely purchase.

I've paid for it every year, even the optional extra $3 this year.

A huge amount of work goes into Kickoff.  You're certain to find something you'll enjoy.  Definitly worth it if for no other reason than to support this site.  And plese throw in the extra $3.

Kickoff provides insight and stories you wouldn't hear otherwise. They predict conference champs and do a great job of being realistic and honest with evaluating teams. It's nice to hear about other schools and conferences that you don't normally know about. The money is well worth it and I paid the extra $3 because of all the work these men put into the website. That is my homepage during football season and especially the scoreboard watch on saturdays.

I'll echo what everyone else said...definitely worth the money for Kickoff.  I rounded up to $15 as well.  I'd be curious what % of folks have been doing that.

Thanks, guys, I and the team appreciate the kudos. It's been a while since I pulled a spreadsheet and did the math but as of a week ago, about half of people had rounded up, and that was a pleasant sign for all involved here.

We know full well that the biggest fans are the ones who subscribe early and we don't necessarily expect that ratio to continue, but it is super helpful. It's been a tough year money-wise, unfortunately -- lots of ad blockers. :(

I coach HS football in Pasco county FL, just North of Tampa.

A majority of the kids who go play up North (not including full ride D1 players) return home after a semester or year.  They don't like the winter and I hear a lot of "the coach didn't give me a chance."

Many of them think they deserve to start right away and aren't willing to put in the time/work to earn playing time.

Ithaca's got a freshman QB from Boca Raton coming in this year. Hope he bucks the trend you see!

I'm assuming that he didn't make his campus visit in February.

I'm assuming that he didn't make his campus visit in February any time from October through early April.

Fixed that for you  ;)

Out of curiosity... does a team like JCU give out awards like Newcomer of the Year OR Freshman of the Year?

If so who won it last year?

Do we need multiple guesses here?  I mean, I don't know about the school's awards and whether those exist or not.  But if they did, there's only one answer.

Not sure what may have changed since I played there, a few years back, but we did not have awards like that at all.

Of course, Arth took over right after I graduated, so things could have changed, but not sure!
