On a non OAC note it is pretty impressive to St Thomas and St Johns at Target field with over 30,000 tickets sold so far.

Which leads me to this, we need to officially create a name for the JCU Mount game; and move the game to either Progressive Field or Browns Stadium (for closeness for JCU, lol) or I suppose Canton would work too!

I love that D3 football is getting some good press right now! I'll take anything we can get. With UWW, UWO, UMHB, UMU, NCC, JCU have all made positive press in the last year and it looks this could be an entertaining year. My surprise team to make some noise would be Brockport. Watch the running back highlight video against St John Fisher, not just the one highlight of him hurdling a guy....the guy is an athlete! I know why're not sneaking up on people now though, just surprising me.

I also agree that I think it's time to come up with a name for the UMU/JCU game.

Before I comment on this.......are you serious? Or is this just sort of fun banter?

On the Davis/Poorman QB...I expect to see Mount using both Poorman and Davis regularly in the JV games in a rotation to keep them active, playing and developing. Would not surprise me to see Davis doing JV the next week and Poorman backing up Fulford. Makes sense.

Oh and JCUStreaks70 - seriously, are you serious? I mean I do have a couple names suggestions.

Good press for D3 right now?  You obviously haven't been paying attention to the Wheaton story.  It's not good when D3 is on the front page of ESPN.com
I find easily offended people rather offensive!

Statistics are like bikinis; what they reveal is interesting, what they hide is essential.

Oh I've seen it! I'm choosing to ignore them as a D3 school right now. It's why I didn't mention them. I feel that there are so many positives out there with D3 football that I'd rather highlight those.

I want to highlight the good of D3 as well BUT - I consider myself a D3 fan and as such waaay more informed on D3 football etc. than most (not most on this board - but most of the general population that worships at the alter of OSU, Bama, Clemson and anything less is just a club sport). As such I follow D3 football - games, predictions, stats and news. Here is my problem with the Wheaton incident - it happened in March of 2016! It happened 17 months ago. This is first I have heard about it - haven't heard a rumor. Am I alone in this? Did anyone else on the boards know anyhting? I could have glossed it over I guess.

Anyway - it bothers me because the Wheaton statement mentions the players violated the community covenant and  acted against values of human beings. The school brought in 3rd party investigators and experts to review the culture and implement corrective actions - and of course they remain committed to Christ centered development and all of that, but 17 months later - the players are still  on the team and didn't seem to be disciplined for it last year. Or am I wrong? In the meantime Wheaton is so shocked, and so offended by the actions that - no one even knew about it who wasn't in the administration or the atheletic department? By the way the discipline that could not be discussed because of FERPA was discussed in an article in the Chicago Tribune "Sources told the Tribune that several players were required to perform 50 hours of community service and write an eight-page essay reflecting on their behavior". Seriously? Christ I tossed a case of bottles in the dumpster at Hiram and then refused the suggestion of a staff member to put them in the recycle dumpster and got 10 hours of community service and a 5 page paper on the need to raise awareness of recycling on campus! Sure I may have actually said "piss off hippie" but none of the bottles entered or even attempted to enter the staff members arse. The school seems to me to be taking the moral high ground now that the story is out only because they can't put it back under the rug. Guess I expected more from Wheaton.

They also were suspended for a game, the 2016 opener vs. Benedictine.

Oh. Well in that case it's all good. Kidding Pat - it's not a knock on you. Isn't that a little like an LSU, OSU or Bama stud getting "disciplined" by having to sit out an opener against...Akron, which is routinely mocked in the media as a non-punishment punishment.

I hear you. :) I just figured I'd throw that in because it doesn't seem to be mentioned in any of the Chicago Tribune coverage.

I'm Going to the BW Mount game today and hoping for a good game.  Based on last week's JCU BW score it looks like Jim Hilvert is making his mark on turning around the BW football program which hopefully will make the game closer than the last 5 years where BW hasn't been very competitive with Mount in losing by at least 4 touchdowns.  Hopefully the games will begin to become more competitive  and Hilvert can rekindle a rivalry with Mount Union.

I recall when the rivalry was stronger and some off field events gave Mount Union some added incentive for the games. I remember a game at Finnie Stadium back in I think the late 90s where the game was close until some BW fans stold the larger Raider flag off of a young special needs raider fan that would run along the the sidelines after a Mount Union score.  The BW group took the flag up the hill beyond the far endzone and began ripping it up until many of the former Mount Union players that attend the games quickly jumped the fence.  The former Mount players saved the flag and made the BW fans damaging the flag physically pay for what they did.

From what I was told the financial payment for the incident was paid by BW after LK drove to the BW president's house the next day and got him to commit for paying for the repairs for the flag which were fairly expensive for the flag that I was told cost in excess of $3000. I'm not sure if the cost was that high but I'm sure LK proved his point with the BW officials as to what was acceptable behavior and the consequences for what happens when one breaches that and it impacts the Mount Union Football Program.

Hopefully today's game won't have any extracurricular activities and be a hard fought entertaining game.

Very warm day in Alliance.  Before game EMS is busy working on a fan that apparently overcome by the heat before game starts.

That was quick.  D forces a punt and Fulford hits Ruth down the middle for a 65 yd score on the first play.

Already have offsetting personal fouls then a bonehead PF by E. Berry after a stop on 3rd down.  It's officially a BW/Mount game.

Mount making it look easy so far.  20-0 in the 1st. BW has shown very little in terms of slowing Mount down.  Petruccelli has 56 yds on 5 carries and a 32 yd catch.

Credit BW.  They've tightened up the defense in the 2nd.  Still 20-0.

Friss with a couple TD catches today.  34-0 early 3rd.

Petruccelli over 100 yds.  124 on 10 carries.

Former Raider backup QB Matt Lowry is in at QB for BW.

Was going to catch a few minutes of the MU/BW game, but I see Ohio's 3rd NFL team wants $9.95 for the privilege of viewing purple things.  :o  ::)  :(

After 1 Berg 7-0 over JCU.

24-14 Berg at half.  Should be 28-14 as Stoyle hit Magee in stride deep and he dropped it.  He bounced right back and made a nice grab to help get them the FG though.  Berg looks pretty good so far.

Berg has JCU on the ropes.  Pick 6 makes it 33-14 w 2:46 left in the 3rd.

Yikes.  Another pick 6.  40-14 in the 4th.

To be honest it saved me 3 tickets ($30), 3 brunch tickets ($24) and a tank of gas ($42)....$96 versus $9.95 - winner, winner, Purple Dinner!
